7 Week After School Student Activity
Unlock Creativity
As a unique after school opportunity, students at Johnson elementary will have the chance to choose an area to explore in more detail over the course of a series of after school sessions.
In these sessions students will choose an area of focus and will work to develop a project in collaboration with others using design thinking strategies. Students will develop creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills.

When: Fridays - January 12- March 9 (no meetings Feb 9 or Feb 16).
Time: 3-4:30
Where: Johnson Library
Grades: 3-5
Currently, there are only 25 spots available on a first come, first serve basis.
Cost: None
3D Printing
Question to explore: How can we solve a problem using the 3D printer? The first problem students will tackle will be to make something that allows us to hang a green screen on a wall.
Inventing with LittleBits
Question to explore: How can we invent a creature or character using electronics? Students will research how to use Littlebits and will design their own characters.
Robotics
Question to explore: How can we customize and program a robot to perform tasks? Students will work in groups and choose a robot type (Dash and Dot, EV3, Sphero) to research and use to complete challenges with different sensors and attachments.
Digital Storytelling
Question: How can we develop unique characters and write a story to share with an audience? Students will explore digital arts, game development, green screen, and book creators.
Sign Ups
Students will be accepted based on the order that the sign ups are received. Should we reach our maximum of 25 students, a waitlist will be created.
