Re-Entry Task Force Update

As discussed at Monday's Board of Education meeting, the Re-Entry Task Force, in conjunction with the Administration, is refining a plan to begin phasing children into school in the next few weeks. Look for more details to be released next Friday. You can read the detailed minutes of the Task Force's most recent meeting, and read the latest resources at their new dedicated webpage: www.dps109.org/taskforce.

A reminder: You can email taskforce@dps109.org if you have any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas. This email will not respond to you. The district's Director of Communications, Eric Steckling, will monitor the inbox and collect every email to distribute to the entire Task Force on Monday mornings. The Task Force will then review the community feedback as a group as part of their weekly meetings.

Challenging Times In Our Country

The shooting of Jacob Blake up the road from us in Kenosha, Wisconsin, has yet again brought to the forefront important societal issues. It's our intent that your children and our students grow up in a world of understanding, acceptance, and unity. To that end, District 109 has created a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee to tackle these critically important topics as they relate to Deerfield. The first meeting of the full committee is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8th and subcommittees will convene in late September. If you have any ideas, comments, or suggestions that could enhance this committee's work, please contact Co-Chairs Danielle Arnold (darnold@dps109.org) or Marcie Faust (mfaust@dps109.org).

September 1 -- Next Re-Entry Task Force meeting

September 4 -- Updated school re-entry plan expected

September 7 -- Labor Day (No School)

September 8 -- Institute Day (No School)
