Week of October 28
What's going on in class?
Our week review over fractions has ended! Next week will start off with a baseline test over Module 2 information. At the end of Module 2 we will have a quiz that will show the progression each student made throughout the lessons. We will then begin Module 2. Each student will be given the note sheets for the module to put in their binder just like we did in our first module. Students can take their binders home at anytime I just ask that ALL binders return the next day so students will not fall behind in the notes/lessons. Have a great weekend!!
Next week students will be starting the novel Hatchet in Language Arts. Please continue to ask your student about their weekly reading interests. (Please remind your student Hatchet is not permitted for weekly reading log).
Nightly reading homework-
Studies have shown that reading just 20 minutes per day will expose students to over a million words per year. This will then likely improve school grades as well as increase state standardized test scores. Please check with your child be make sure they are doing their nightly reading homework and filling out the log that goes with it.
Students keep their Science Interactive Notebooks (INBs) in the classroom, but they are always welcome to take them home with them as long as they return the next day.
This week in social studies we continued to learn about Ancient Egypt. On Monday we presented our Ancient Egypt Research project. On Tuesday we learned about female rulers of Egypt. On Wednesday and Thursday the students learned about an exciting discovery in Egypt that happened this month. On Friday we took a summative quiz over Ancient Egypt. Next week we will finish with Ancient Egypt and begin learning about China. Have a great weekend!
