WILLOW GROVE WEEKLY UPDATE
GRIZZLY STRONG NEWS FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 21TH!
SCHOOL REOPENING NEWS
Willow Grove will be welcoming many of our Grizzlies back for on-campus learning on Monday, October 12th! We are so excited and are working hard to prepare for a safe and smooth reopening!
Please be sure to review the PUSD Reopening Guidebook 2.0 for health and safety protocols, including symptom screening, handwashing, physical distancing, face coverings, sanitizing, and what happens in the case of COVID-19 symptoms or exposure.
School meals will continue to be free to all PUSD students. Specific details from the District regarding how lunches will be distributed is forthcoming.
PUSD is requiring all students Preschool through 12th grade wear masks at school, to provide increased protection for staff and students and prevent the spread of COVID-19 once our schools reopen. The following CDC resources will be shared with our parents so they can work with their children and have them practice washing their hands properly and wearing a mask for longer periods of time:
- How to wear a mask correctly and proper mask wearing video
- How to wash your hands properly and handwashing videos
Information regarding which session, AM or PM, your child will attend, specific arrival and dismissal procedures, and other pertinent school reopening information will be communicated in the upcoming weeks.
Just a reminder, any student who chose the virtual learning option will remain fully virtual once our school reopens for in-person learning.

Why join the PTA when our kids are learning from home?
The purpose of the PTA is to create a community and connect children and families together. More than ever, this connection is vital to the emotional and mental health of our kids.
How can we connect kids when they aren't in school?
With your membership and donations, the PTA is ready to help our kids connect with each other through a variety of online and interactive virtual experiences including science, art, Grizzlies Got Talent and a Fall Harvest Drive-by Parade. Over the summer, the district repaved the playground blacktop. We will use your membership and donations towards repainting the blacktop, supporting teachers, replacing playground equipment (i.e. soccer nets) and making sure it's ready when the doors of Willow Grove open again. Membership is open to everyone! Each person in the family can become a PTA member—parents, grandparents, educators, students and friends. Becoming a member doesn’t require you to volunteer, though we always welcome your time and talent!
Don't forget to ask your employer to match your donation. See if your company is on the corporate matching list. If you see them on the list, contact your HR or Corporate Giving department and let them know you would like them to match! We are only as strong as we are united.

What better way to relieve that back-to-school stress than with a little you time?! WGEF is excited to announce a shop-til-you-drop day at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center! Visit the listed locations on September 24th for some goodies JUST FOR YOU (some new workout gear from Vuori or something PRETTY from Rumeur, perhaps?), refuel with some delicious grub at California Native, and make a quick stop in Handel's for some yummy ice cream to take home to the family! Better yet, when you spoil yourself, you’re spoiling us (and your kiddos), too! For every purchase you make, our participating partners will donate 20% back to Willow Grove Educational Foundation, to help us fund some critical things to help us through this tough time, such as impact teachers for reading and math, and all those literacy programs your students are using daily. Make sure to bring the flyer so Willow Grove gets credit.
