Why was Juan Ponce de Leon succeed in his voyages?

According to the article it says that Juan Ponce de Leon was then given the right to find and take the island of Bimini (in the Bahamas); he was searching for riches and the fountain of youth (a legendary spring that gave people eternal life and health). He sailed from Puerto Rico on March 3, 1513, with three ships, the Santa Maria, the Santiago, and the San Cristobal, and about 200 men. After stops at Grand Turk Island and San Salvador, they reached the east coast of Florida (St. Augustine) in April 1513. Ponce de Leon named the land "Pascua de Florida" (feast of flowers) because they first spotted land on April 2, 1513, Palm Sunday. He then claimed the land for Spain. Essential Question:

Which explorer would have influenced you to want to immigrate from Europe to the area they explored?

I think that Juan Ponce de Leon influenced Europe to go and explore Florida because according to the websites I have it says that Juan Ponce de Leon went there because there was a meth that there was a fountain of youth to be discovered and that would make you young forever. But I think that Juan Ponce de Leon only did this because according to my source that I have it says that most of the explorers only wanted fame, gem, rich and more. But I think that the fountain of youth made people think that they would all become young and they all wanted it.

I also believed that Juan Ponce de Leon was very lucky because he got to governor in Puerto Rico and go with Christopher Columbus voyage and more I think that people followed Juan Ponce de Leon because they all wanted to be like him and get lots of things because they would get fame, money, gems, and more. That what I think that Juan Ponce de Leon made people think about acting and being just like him due to his fame.
