What is my child doing this half-term?
The skills which they will be focusing on are as follows:
- Use of appropriate register/tone to engage target audience
- Use of extensive and ambitious vocabulary as part of writing
- Organisation of writing through use of relevant discourse marks
- Accurate use of complex punctuation
- Accurate spelling of high and low frequency words

Assessment Objectives
- Communicate clearly, effectively and imaginatively, selecting and adapting tone, style and register for different forms, purposes and audiences.
- Organise information and ideas, using structural and grammatical features to support coherence and cohesion of texts.
Assessment Objective 6:
- Candidates must use a range of vocabulary and sentence structures for clarity, purpose and effect, with accurate spelling and punctuation.
Examination Questions
They will be given a task which requires them to respond to a picture they have never seen before and complete a piece of creative writing.
They are awarded up to 24 marks for their content & organisation.
They are awarded up to 16 marks for their technical accuracy.

How can I help my child at home?
- Check that your child is completing their English homework to a high standard. It is set every Monday and should be written clearly in their planner along with the deadline that has been set. Ask them what their task it and make sure they have an appropriate place to complete the homework.
