From our counselor, Mrs. Bonsteel
Hello Sunset Families- This week at school my classroom lessons revolved around stress and how to combat it.
Today I would like to share three easy and effective ways to combat stress as a family. I will post this to the PTA page as well. Upload a picture of your family doing one of these and win a prize.
- Go on a family walk. (Bored of the same scenery check out the Great Salt Lake Shoreland Preserve (NO COST) at 1002 S 3200 W, Layton. It is free, fun and educational and short enough for even Kindergarteners to enjoy. ) Walking boosts endorphins and can improve mood. Sunshine and being together outside does wonders as well.
- Read together. Research shows that after only 6 minutes of snuggling and reading with a child or pet your stress level can go down by 68%. This weekend plan a trip to the library or read a family favorite.
- Plant something. Did you know gardening as a family is a great stress booster? You can lower your cortisol levels, connect with nature and enjoy fresh air and sunshine away from the electronics and literally take on a growth mindset.
Please share your family adventure with us on the Sunset PTA facebook page- Have a stress free weekend! Mrs. Bonsteel
