COVID-19 UPDATES
- On 3/21 NMFA mask policy has been updated for all students and staff.
Student Expectations:
We ask that you have a conversation with your child about your expectations of masking at school and prepare your children for other families making different decisions. It is important to know that no matter the decision, please know that families will make different decisions that are different from other family decisions.
Staff Masking:
Staff will be making their own decisions as well. Please know that teaching in a mask has been incredibly different for the past two years. It is important that we also withhold judgment of staff deciding to continue to mask or unmask. Optional is optional and personal reasons are to be respected for all.
As of March 14th - March 18th masks are required for all students and staff. Starting March 21st masks are optional for all students and staff at NMFA and on transportation.
We understand that your student(s) may be vaccinated - but classrooms may transition to distance learning due to number of cases and staffing.

Our five Destination Imagination (DI) teams are working hard. They begin each meeting with an instant challenge . After the instant challenge, they work on their long-term challenge.
We have different long-term challenges. Our K-2 group is working on Monster Manners. They are building a house. They chose to create an underground house. They have written a story about a family of monsters that move into their new house, The family works together, using good manners, and fixes something that breaks during the move.
Two groups are working on Engineering - Roll With It. Each group built a car that rolls down a ramp and is able to hold weights. They have to incorporate the structure and a rotating object in their story.
Another group chose Fine Arts - Tricky Tales. In this challenge, the team wrote a story about a team-created Trickster who attempts to overcome a tricky situation. They had to include a costume transformation and an illusion in their presentation.
Our last group chose Service Learning - For the Future. They created activity sheets for children who are in a shelter. They wrote science fiction story. Their story needed to have a flash forward. It will need to include a message transmitter. The story needed to connect the story with their service project.
All the groups had to create props, costumes, and act out their story as part of their challenge.
