From our Nurse
Seasonal allergies can appear any time of the year, but seem especially tough near the change of the season. The school clinic does not keep a supply of seasonal allergy medication. If your child has allergy symptoms, please give him/her medication before they come to school. I also encourage hand washing after coming in from outside and drinking plenty of water.
Chaucie's Place
Cumberland Road Elementary is partnering again this year with Chaucie’s Place, a child advocacy organization in Hamilton County, to bring Smart Steps: A Body Safety Program for Children to our Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade students. Smart Steps is a child sexual abuse prevention and education program that empowers your children to say “NO!” to any unwanted touches from anyone that make them uncomfortable.
We invite you to attend a Chaucie’s Place Parent Night to learn more about the Smart Steps program. Fall Creek Elementary will be hosting on Tuesday, September 15th from 6:00pm-7:00pm and Sand Creek Elementary will be hosting from 6:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, September 23rd. These meetings are open to all parents and/or guardians of Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade students. Please be advised that Parent Night is not open to children. On-Line School Directory
The online school directory is now available to all families in Skyward. This year the directory is based on an opt-in model. Families must choose to show their contact information in order to be visible in the directory.
To opt-in, click on "My Account" in the upper right corner of your Family Access account. From there, check the boxes for the information you wish to make visible under the School Directory section and then Save. Families can make changes to this section anytime throughout the school year.
To view the online school directory, click the School Directory tab on the left side of the Skyward homepage.
1,000,000 POP TABS for RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE!
The students at CRES have started a project for Riley Hospital/Ronald McDonald House. Our goal is to collect one million pop tabs! (one pound= 1000 pop tabs) We collected 60,000 last year!! Water jugs have been placed in all five grade levels-4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st and Kindergarten/Early Childhood. Please send your pop tabs from aluminum cans in a box or bag with your child any day. Ask your neighbors and relatives to save them, too! We are proud that CRES is helping to ‘pick up the tab’ for needed funds to support Indiana’s only “home away from home” for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment.
To many, a pop tab is just a piece of aluminum with one purpose – to open a can. But to the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, the pop tab is a valuable resource. Why? Collected pop tabs are recycled, generating much-needed funds to support the House and the nearly 1,900 families they serve each year.
Collecting tabs is a great way for all of us to really make a difference in lives of families and children in need---not to mention learning about the importance of recycling. THANK YOU for your support.
