The Catholic Christian Community of St. Anthony of Padua welcomes all to our celebration of God's love. Through prayer, education, sacraments, caring and stewardship, we strive to serve the needs of God's people and to gain a richer understanding of the gospel message of love.

The St. Anthony's Annual Food Drive Begins This Week!

Please send in canned goods (boxes tend to get damaged in transport, wasting food) in bags. If you have extra brown bags you can donate, please send those in with food donations. Thank you for your support during the holiday season!

Students may earn extra credit for bringing in cans. For every 2 cans students will earn 1 extra credit point up to 10 points. Food Drive will run through Friday, November 17.

In the Classroom This Week:

Religion

Students turned in their Saints last week and did a beautiful job. Second grade used them as a background at their presentation today. Students will begin to present their Saint tomorrow. It is a brief 1-2 minute speech, very low key. They may read from their index card and need to be able to answer 2 questions from the class.

Language Arts

In Writing and Grammar we will be getting back to the fundamentals. We will be learning about compound predicates and how to take two predicates and combine them into one sentence.

Students will take a Unit 6 vocab test on Thursday.

Math

Students are beginning chapter 6, Multiplying Decimals. This week students will be multiplying decimals by 10, 100, and 1,000, estimating the product of a decimal and a whole number, and working on numbers sense with decimal multiplication. Students will have a quiz on Thursday covering these topics.

We encourage that students review their class notes nightly.

Social Studies

Students began Unit 2 yesterday. We will be discussing why Europeans began to look for a sea route to Asia and how technology made ocean exploration possible. We will also be discussing why the Europeans explored the Americas and what they found. We will look at the obstacles and accomplishments of these early explores too.

Science

We will wrap up our Astronomy Unit in Science this week. Students completed a study guide on Monday, we will review it on Tuesday. Students will take the final Astronomy assessment on Wednesday. Next week we will begin our Chemistry unit.
