We had such a fun Friday as we transformed each 2nd grade class into Pizzerias. Students discussed the story elements in Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza and then later followed by making fraction pizzas.
Family Focus
This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.
This weeks Family focus: Read a book and discuss the story elements. As you read discuss the events of the beginning, middle and end of the story. When finished reading have your student use complete sentences to write out the beginning, middle and end of the story with proper capitalization and punctuation. This is also a great time to practice taking their time and using nice handwriting.
Academics
ELAR: This week students will discuss elements of drama such as characters, dialogue and setting.
Math: Students will work on adding 2 and 3 digit numbers.
Science: Students will use their knowledge of weather and seasons to create a packing and activities list for an assigned destination.
Social Studies: Students will discuss how weather patterns and seasonal patterns affect activities and settlement patterns.
2nd Grade Adventures
In order to promote high attendance, we will be spelling out the word ATTENDANCE. Each day that our class has 100% attendance a letter will be added. When the whole word is spelled out, we will celebrate. We will also have a school wide prize for the grade level with the highest attendance. Please help us reach our goal in 2nd grade!
