DAWGS Kindness Prom 2020
Way to Turn On the Light, DAWGS!!!
A Very Good Day To Be a DAWG!
It wasn't the 'Prom' that anyone had dreamed about.
It wasn't the 'Prom' that anyone would ever think of.
But it ended up being a Prom that students and the community
will remember for many years to come!
On Friday, May 5, Aquin Prom Couples headed out into the community and performed 'acts of kindness' with their dates . . . leaving plenty of 'room for Jesus'. The response by the community and those touched by the kindness has been overwhelming.
FACEBOOK COMMENTS FROM AQUIN FAMILY, FRIENDS AND NEW FANS!
- As the day winds down I am thinking of what today should have been and what it was. I should be gearing up right about now to pull an all nighter for post prom. The Aquin students should be creating memories together that would last a life time dancing the night away and playing games. Rather today they spent some time with prom partners creating different memories helping spread kindness in the local community, memories that will surely last a lifetime. This is the year there was no Prom. This is the year that everything is changed and we are all seeking a new normal. I am so proud of the students and they way they are handling the changes, the misses and the last time they did something not knowing it would have been the last. Thank you to the Aquin students for taking this day and making people smile with your kindness!! Through this we still chose joy, we still bond and we will not be broken!! (From Andrea Ege)
- Definitely different memories for today but ones that you can be proud of and ones that will carry with them a lot further in life.
- These young adults gave so much more to their community then they probably realize right now!! As they look back on this day the day they missed their prom I hope they see all the great things they did!! Be proud Aquin students!!! Hope you dance soon!!
- Wow what incredibly young people. Proud of their grace and resilience pivoting to doing good when they should have been just having fun. They will have different memories and unique experiences and hopefully they will still get to dance the night away soon. Love you beautiful young folks, sorry for your disappointments but thank you for showing us what exquisite adults you are becoming.
- I am so very proud of Hayden and his classmates! They are showing us all when you face a disappointment or a challenging situation do something for someone else it will always make you feel better. It is a one of the most important lessons of life. I am so impressed by they young people they are showing us grace, humility and kindness. So many moms and dads should be so proud! I hope they all dance soon!
- Love how they turned a terrible hand of fate into something positive! Makes me even more proud to be an Aquin graduate! (from Todd McKenna, Aquin Class of 1984)
- Thank you whoever painted the series of rocks and left them on a path in the park. It brightened up my day!
- I was unprepared for the reasoning of our young adults. The world will be okay.
- Oh wow! Good comes out of tragedy, if we pay attention. What a great thing to teach our kids to do! Thanks for sharing.
