Our Mission Statement

The Rayburn Counseling Department will provide a high quality, comprehensive school counseling program that promotes the academic, career and personal/social development of all students.


Rayburn counselors are committed to working in collaboration with educators, parents, and community members to ensure all students have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in our changing society.

Program Components

Guidance Curriculum

The Guidance Curriculum component includes skill based lessons designed to help all students develop competence in essential life skills. Guidance lessons are based on student need. Some of Rayburn's guidance topics include; bully awareness and prevention, drug awareness and prevention, appropriate social media use, career exploration, and high school endorsement selection.


Responsive Services

The purpose of Responsive Services is to intervene with or on behalf of a child whose personal circumstances, concerns, or problems are threatening and interfere with healthy career, educational, social, and/or personal development. Responsive Services includes both individual and small group counseling.


Individual Planning

Individual Planning guides students in planning, monitoring, and managing their own career, educational, social, and personal growth. Individual Planning is achieved by assisting students in setting their own goals, course elective choices, and endorsement selections.


System Support

The System Support component describes the management of activities which assures the delivery of a high quality guidance program. This component indirectly services our students. System Support includes; research development, outreach, and professional development.

Small Group Counseling

The Rayburn Counseling Department offers a variety of 6 week- small group counseling services to promote students' personal and academic success. Small group involves students with shared concerns and goals. Each group varies based on the student's career, social/emotional developmental needs.

  • Rainbow of Hope- Grief Group
  • Mindful Raiders- Manage Stress and Anxiety Group
  • Boys 2 Men- Motivation to Achieve Boys Group
  • Girl Power- Motivation to Achieve Girls Group
  • Fired Up- Managing Feelings Group
