Blue Valley's Board of Education will host its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, March 7 at 6 p.m. at the District Office. Patrons are invited to tune in virtually through the district’s livestream. Patrons who would like to address the board may do so through Open Forum. Open Forum occurs at every regularly scheduled monthly board meeting and provides one hour (approx. 20 participants; 3 minutes each) of allotted time on the agenda for individuals to address the board in person. If you would like to address the board, you must complete the Open Forum Request Form. Request forms will open at noon one business day prior to the scheduled meeting and will close at noon on the day of the board meeting or before if speaker capacity has been reached. Please note speaker substitutions are not permitted. A speaker may not yield their time to another individual during their remarks.
In-person seating will be limited to those students and staff members being honored with an award or recognition and patrons who have signed up for open forum through the Open Forum Request Form (up to 20 participants).

The Learning Connection is a resource for all families, from those with children entering early learning to those with graduating seniors. The resource allows Blue Valley to engage with the community on an ongoing basis to expand families’ knowledge about the district’s learning and teaching initiatives.
This week features a story on how Blue Valley weaves social-emotional learning and academics together.
Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process of teaching and learning life skills that help individuals to develop a positive sense of identity. Blue Valley focuses on five SEL pillars — self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationship skills and responsible decision making.
“Students learning social-emotional skills is so big because it’s teaching them not only how to be students in an academic environment but it’s teaching them how to be good people,” said Kelly Lamp, a Wolf Springs Elementary 4th grade teacher.
Supporting Students Through Current Events
The recent tragedy unfolding in Ukraine weighs heavy on the hearts of our nation and around the world. Tragedies, no matter how far away or personal, can cause a range of emotions for both adults and children, such as feeling frightened, confused or depressed. We want our families to know we care and have resources available.
Naturally, people are one of the best resources. Our caring staff works relentlessly to build relationships with students. They can help identify changes in behavior at school that might otherwise go unnoticed. If you see a change in your child that concerns you, first talk to your child. Resources to help you visit with your children about national and international events are available online on the Blue Valley website including:
Families can also reach out to your child’s teacher, school counselor, psychologist, social worker, nurse or family physician. Together we can help our students become the very best version of themselves by tending to their academic, social and emotional needs.
Blue Valley Southwest senior Evanna Dominic thought she was being interviewed as one of the first female Eagle Scouts in the area. Little did she know, she was in for the surprise of a lifetime when a semi-truck with the familiar red and white Coca-Cola logo pulled up to the school. She was announced as a 2022 Coca-Cola Scholar, a title that comes with a $20,000 college scholarship.
Dominic is one of 150 Coca-Cola Scholars selected from more than 68,000 applicants across the country. A joint effort between Coca-Cola bottlers across the country and The Coca-Cola Company, the Coca-Cola Scholars Program is the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the United States with a focus on academic excellence, leadership and service demonstrated in school and community activities. With the addition of the 2022 class, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will have provided more than 6,600 Coke Scholars nationwide with more than $78 million in scholarships over the course of 34 years.
