The Buzz at Westbrook School
March 19, 2021
From the Principal...
Dear Westbrook Families,
We had another fun and eventful week at Westbrook! In addition to celebrating Spirit Week, our kindergarten and first grade families enjoyed their spring celebrations! Thank you to our PTO and family volunteers in making this happen for our students!
We are excited to welcome our students back to full in-person instruction in April, as well as offer a remote learning option for families who chose this learning model. Our teams are busy collaborating and planning! Karl Anderson (Assistant Principal) and I are working on class lists, the master schedule, and logistics for April 12th. We are doing our best to minimize disruptions for our students. We are trying to place students with their current teacher or a previous teacher, if possible. In addition, we are in the process of revising our master schedules and working through the logistics of arrival/dismissal, lunch/recess, and more! More information will be coming after Spring Break!

First Day of Full-Time, In-Person/Remote Learning Models
During the week of April 5th, students will have school on Monday, April 5th and Wednesday, April 7th. April 6th was previously designated as an Institute Day. Two additional days (April 8th and April 9th) were added as Institute Days to allow for planning and preparation for our spring learning models to start on April 12th. We will follow the typical schedule for our remote learners and in-person learners on April 5th and April 7th. Due to bussing, we are unable to make changes to our schedules that week.
Spring Learning Models
Thank you to all of our families for completing the spring enrollment form. Based on our spring enrollment numbers, we are able to have dedicated remote teachers and in-person teachers for all of our preschool, kindergarten, and first grade classrooms. We will continue to have a few of our small groups livestream.
Beginning on April 12th, we will have the following:
Circle of Friends:
-5 sections of in-person learning
-1 section of remote learning
Kindergarten:
-6 sections of in-person learning
-3 sections of remote learning
1st Grade:
-8 sections of in-person learning
-2 sections of remote learning
We will be moving back to our normal school hours beginning on April 12th.
AM session: 9:20-11:50am
PM session: 1:20-3:50pm
Disability Awareness Week
In honor of World Autism Awareness Day (April 2nd), District 57 will be continuing our tradition of hosting a Districtwide Disability Awareness Week (March 29th - April 2nd). Each day, students will be learning about different disabilities, including: learning disabilities, orthopedic impairments, visual impairments, and autism.
Wishing you and your family well,
