Newsletter Term 3 Week 8
Patumahoe School 15th of September 2021
Principal's Desk
Kia ora and greetings to all
On Monday afternoon the Prime Minister announced a continuation of current alert levels for the next week, but in principle, Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 at 11:59pm on Tuesday 21 September. Cabinet will review the alert level settings for all of the country next Monday 20 September and make an announcement at the usual time of 4pm. So it is likely that our community along with the rest of the Auckland will be back at level 3 next Wednesday. As for school operating under level 3, we have not yet had a specific start date yet, but would likely be Thursday next week.
What happens next?
Shortly after the 4pm announcement next Monday the 20th of September I will send out a notification outlining what to do if we move back to level 3 in Auckland.
On a lighter note, Mrs Pippa Martin and her husband Brian won our Staff Trivia night last Friday. They will host this weeks quiz. I have also enjoyed being included in classroom work this past week. My zoom meeting with Room 11 was fun and it was very nice to see some faces again.

JUNIOR SCHOOL UPDATE
Kia ora koutou! Happy Maori language week. Just a short message from the junior team today.
Please read, read, and read some more. We have been impressed with the amount of reading that is happening across the juniors. Please keep it up.
Again a huge thank you to all the families who are engaging in online learning for this extended period of time. We are loving all the work coming in.
If you have any worries or concerns please contact your classroom teacher or the school phone. We will help as best we can.
Keep safe and healthy in your bubbles,
The Junior School Team
SENIOR SCHOOL UPDATE
Kia ora Senior Syndicate Families,
Week 5 of lockdown and online learning. I know that for some of you this has been a very tricky time balancing your own work, online learning and family time but we are hoping that this will not be for much longer.
It has been great to see the continued effort that our children are putting into their online learning this past week and we just want to acknowledge the fantastic support from all parents.
Please continue to encourage and motivate your children to engage in as much learning as possible - daily roll, reading book of their choice, read works (daily), writing tasks and 1000 daily points on mathletics.
I also want to acknowledge our fantastic teachers who have tirelessly continued to provide the best education possible during this time. This has been a difficult balancing act which we are very mindful of and would just like to reiterate that for their wellbeing the hours which teachers will be available is from 8:25 - 2:25pm.
