A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Thank you to all of our families for joining us during last week’s Open House. We hope that you enjoyed the evening. We also hope that our 8th grade families enjoyed their new Open House format. It was neat to see students and families engaged in learning together. We really do appreciate the partnership we share with all of our parents and want you to know that our doors are always open to any questions, concerns, and thoughts you may have as we move forward into the year.

For families not able to attend Open House, I shared some exciting news about our school's performance on the 2019 statewide MCAS assessment. Last Tuesday, the state released assessment and accountability results. 67 schools were recognized as Schools of Recognition for high achievement, high growth, and/or exceptional performance relative to their improvement targets. Luther Burbank was recognized as a School of Recognition and was one of only six schools in the state, and the only middle school, to be recognized in all three categories. For more information, click here.

We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment. Kudos to our teachers and students who work so hard, and kudos to our families for all of the support they provide us each and every day.

Your child’s 2019 MCAS Parent/Guardian report will be mailed home in the month of October.

We are looking forward to continued growth and LEARNING in the year ahead!

Yours in partnership,

Laura Friend

Principal

Positive Sign Thursdays at Luther Burbank

Each Thursday, our Student Council starts the day with a good dose of positivity and thankfulness. Students and staff greet students as they enter the building with a positive message. How can you not smile? (see more pictures @LBMSPrincipal).
