CSHS Prom Safety 2016
Safe & Fun CAN go together!
Safety Checklist
- Discuss plans with your friends/date with your parents.
- Know ahead of time what to say if someone offers you drugs or alcohol.
- Discuss curfew with your parents and share with friends/date before Prom night.
- Ask a parent or trusted adult to remain near a phone in case you need to call them.
- Carry a cell phone in your purse or pocket in case you need to call for help.
- Keep an eye on your date to make sure he/she isn't drinking. Alcohol can impair judgement, vision, thinking, coordination, and reaction time.
- Keep a close eye on other drivers as there are more drunk drivers on the road during this time.
- Know where you are going before prom night, and have directions to all locations readily available. Share with your parents.
- Make sure the vehicle has enough gas to get where you are going and back home again.
- If at any time you find yourself in an uncomfortable or unsafe situation, have enough money on had to call a cab, a parent, or a friend if you need to.
What memories will you make?
CSHS Shattered Dreams Project
Please watch the video below that captured the real dangers of impaired driving and how close to home it truly hits.
will you pledge to be sober on prom night?
When Sean Speaks
Even though Sean wasn’t driving the car the night of the crash,
he said he was just as much at fault.
“The mistake came when I made the decision to ride home with my friends,” Sean said.
“I was not aware of how much we had been drinking.”
“When alcohol is involved, it could have been prevented,” said Jenny.

What are some safe options for celebrating?
- This year's After Prom Bash, The After Party, is specifically designed for students to have a great time while also providing a drug and alcohol-free event.
- Prom is one of the most memorable nights of high school and the goal is to keep students safe as their night of memories continues into the early morning hours.
- After Prom Bash is located at the Texas A&M Rec Center - within walking distance from Prom at the MSC. CSHS students and their guests have full access to all the Rec has to offer: the swimming pool, rock-climbing wall, and racquetball and basketball courts. Volunteers also run a casino with multiple game tables and there's even a dodgeball tournament!
- Tickets are on sale in the cafeteria for $20 per student. A Rec Center Waiver form must be completed by every student prior to purchase. If you'd like more information, visit their website at cshsapb.weebly.com!
APB is a lock-in. Once students enter, they are not allowed to leave until the event is over. Please see an Assistant Principal if you have questions.
Are you ready?
While not looking "cool" or "fitting in" may have some consequences within your friend-group, it doesn't compare to the long-term consequences of a life-altering injury or criminal charges.
There are multiple administrators and officers at prom if you would like to seek help or advice on handling an uncomfortable situation regarding drugs or alcohol. It's never too late to ask for help!
We hope that you make some fun {and safe} memories at Prom 2016!
