Miss Brown's Bulletin
Week of October 19-23
Goals
AR goals are due on October 30. Each week we track our progress towards meeting our goals and send reports home on Monday. Be sure to check Monday folders for this report to see how your child is doing with AR and how many points they may still need to meet their goal.
Compass goals for the second 9 weeks being NOW! Since the last week of the 9 weeks is full of celebrations, we will count last week as the first week for goals. So the report that is coming home in Monday folders counts as both the end of the 1st 9 weeks goal (practice round) and the 1st week of the 2nd 9 weeks goal. There will be a celebration before Christmas break for every child that meets their Compass Reading and Math goals. We want to see EVERYONE there! We can do it!
We will discuss these programs more at conferences, but if you have any questions feel free to contact me.

We Are Learning To...
Language Arts
In Language Arts we will continue to look at a variety of texts that focus on the importance of education and the power of reading. We will use these texts to answer questions using details from the text and determine the meaning of difficult words. We are also learning how to write a strong paragraph.
Math
We have finished our first unit of study!! We will use this week to review multiplication and division and the meaning of factors. We will test over the content on Thursday. Help your kiddo study by reviewing problem sets, class work and newsletters sent home about the content.
