Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast
February 5th, 2023
Welcome to February! Last week was interesting, to say the least! Our first home soccer games will be this Friday at GMS with JV Boys at 4pm, Varsity Girls at 5:30pm and Varsity Boys at 7:15pm. Join us as we take on Bridgeport HS.
Leadership applications are open NOW! If you are interested in joining the Leadership Class for the 23/24 school year, please fill out an application before the end of day, Friday, Feb. 10. Leadership is more than planning social events. It is an opportunity to grow as a leader, to make a positive impact on our school culture and to represent CA throughout our community! Check out the link below in this newsletter or grab the QR code on posters throughout the school!
Let's get back to business on Monday and Win the DAY!
Always grateful,
Ms. Knutz
Attendance
Collegiate Academy is committed to providing our students with a quality education and an opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree, all for free! To help us in that endeavor, we need a commitment from the students to be in attendance every day. When students are in class every day, doing each day's work, learning becomes much easier, and the students become much more successful and confident in their work.
Please keep in mind that the 1st period is our funding period. Our students have the opportunity to earn an associate's degree for free! However, we are funded based on our attendance, so you can help by ensuring that you schedule appointments around 1st period, preferably during a study hall. Please reach out to Leah.lorkowski@gcisd.net, our attendance secretary if you have questions regarding attendance.
How to check your student’s attendance:
HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE: To view your students’ high school attendance, please log in to Skyward Family Access OFTEN to view your student's attendance record.
COLLEGE ATTENDANCE: To view college attendance, have your student log into their TCC Canvas. Choose and click on a course. On the left hand side, scroll to the bottom, and there will be a blue link that says, “Qwickly”. Click that link and a prompt will ask you to authorize access to Canvas. Click “yes”, and you should be able to view your student's attendance for that class. If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to your student's Pathways teacher.
Junior SAT School Day
SAT Test for Juniors Wednesday, March 1st
GCISD will be offering the opportunity for all juniors to take the SAT at no cost to the students on Wednesday, March 1st, during the school day. Students who are juniors are automatically registered and do not need to sign up.
While the college admissions landscape continues to change in regards to national testing requirements, there are many benefits to our students taking advantage of this opportunity. Check out College Board to access information about the SAT, practice tests, etc. for your junior to prepare.
Students
Students! You have an opportunity to be a part of the Latina STEM Fellowship. The online application will be available February 1st. Visit www.tccd.edu/latinaSTEM for more information

Welcome to Phoenix UIL Soccer!
Welcome to Phoenix UIL Soccer! The teams will be starting the regular season games the first week of February and we need your support to make the inaugural season amazing. We are asking for a donation of $50 per player to assist with team expenses including away game meals. Donations are tax deductible and can be made via check addressed to the Phoenix Family Booster Club, Venmo or Paypal (both: @CABoosterClub).
I have included the links to those accounts below. Please include your child’s name with the donation. If $50 is not in your budget, donate any amount you are comfortable with or consider donating items or your time. Additional information about the season:
Games
There will be five home games and five away games between February 3rd – March 10th. This Friday the Varsity teams will be playing a scrimmage in Alvarado. The regular season away games are in Springtown, Lake Worth, Decatur, Bridgeport and Castleberry. It has been confirmed that our home field will be at Grapevine Middle School. The teams will travel via bus to all games.
Team Meals
The away games will be very long days for the players. The CA Booster Club will arrange for a meal and drink to be provided to all players and coaches for all away games. Your financial donation to the team will assist in the purchasing of those meals. Additionally, we will be asking for water, Gatorade & snack donations for the team to take with them to all games. Please consider making a donation with the Signup Genius links below. This Friday, the CA Booster Club is purchasing meals from Jason’s Deli. The meal will consist of a sandwich, chips, pickle and cookie. Your student has made their selection of sandwich type at the team meeting earlier this week.
