Please keep Ms. Kimberly Pesnell in your thoughts and prayers. Ms. Pesnell was injured in her classroom this past Monday, January 4. She was released from the hospital on Thursday and is currently recovering at her home.


After School Events During Exam Week


To afford students an opportunity to study for their mid-term exams, all after school activities and meetings involving students, with the exception of in-season sports (basketball) should be cancelled through Thursday, January 14, 2016.


Exam Reminders



  • Students should not be released from class after exams have concluded.
  • Students may not receive an early dismissal during the actual exam.
  • Mr. Griffith will email a copy of the exam duty schedule. Teachers covering the first half of exams should remain on post for the first twenty-five minutes of the exam schedule. Teachers scheduled for the second half of coverage should report to your post twenty-five minutes prior to the bell ringing. Radios should be retrieved from the media center for those teachers who cover the Commons Area and/or main hallway.



Martin Luther King Holiday


Please be reminded that a doctor’s note is needed for absences prior to or after major holidays (Friday, January 15 and Tuesday, January 19, 2016).



Jean Passes


For those teachers who have earned jeans passes, please sign/date your pass and place it in Mr. Brooks’ mailbox or give your pass to Ms. Seear on the day you wear jeans.

Triple A Tutoring:


No Tutoring on Thursday 1/14. Triple A tutoring will be held this Tuesday 1/12 beginning at 4 p.m. Please let your students know they may attend tutoring Tuesday (bus transportation and snacks are provided).



Tuesdays: Math, English, and Social Studies/Science help will be offered

Thursdays: Math, English, and Assessment Make-up/Retake help will be offered


Make-Up: If you have an excused absence on a day when an assessment was given, you will have the opportunity to Make-Up that assessment in AAA tutoring each Thursday.

· You MUST sign up by Wednesday if planning to Make-Up assessment on a given Thursday.


Retake: In English 1, Algebra 1, and Earth Science, you may retake quizzes as well as one test per quarter based on the following stipulations:

· You MUST sign up and attend the Tuesday tutoring session before the Thursday retake session and you MUST receive help in the subject that you wish to retake the assessment in. Your teacher in the Tuesday session MUST observe you participating and putting forth a reasonable effort.

· You MUST have all assignments completed in this class.

· You MUST sign up by Wednesday to retake the assessment.

Student Survey Tally Sheets and Summary should be completed and placed in the PAS-T binders in section 5 Learning Environment by the end of 2nd Quarter (Thursday, January 14th).



Lesson Plans


Daily lesson plans should be visible (displayed on the dry erase board or Promethean Board) daily. Plan should include:

    • Daily Essential Question

    • Objective

    • Agenda and

    • Assessment


Weekly Lesson Plans are to be posted to the staff drive each Monday by 9:00 am. (Lesson Plans need not be posted for Exam Week January 11-14.)

I wanted to remind you of some upcoming opportunities. Continuing your education could be just adding some endorsements in reading, gifted and talented, early childhood, etc. Maybe you are looking to earn your Master’s or your Master’s plus 30.

I have attached two brochures that explain our M.Ed. degrees in education. We have one degree in classroom leadership and one in administration and supervision. All courses count toward recertification with the South Carolina Department of Education.

Our next program starts include:


February 2016: Online Master’s in Classroom Leadership (Start date is February 7th)

April 2016: Face to Face Master’s in Administration and Supervision and Online Master’s in Classroom Leadership

Business Office

Please do not slide paperwork under Ms. Webb's or Ms. Seear's door. All information/paperwork for Ms. Webb or Ms. Seear should be placed in their mailboxes with the exception of money. All money and receipts books need to be turned in to Ms. Seear by 1 p.m. each day. Everyone is reminded to turn in invoice slips for any package you have ordered to Ms. Webb so the vendor can be paid.

Please call the Intervention Specialists prior to sending a student to their office to make sure they are available.

ISS (In-School Suspension)

Please refrain from sending students to ISS if you have not contacted Mr. Simmons, ISS Coordinator. Any student sent directly to ISS by a teacher will be returned to class by an administrator. Guidelines for removing a student from class are as follow:


      • Call Mr. Simmons

      • Complete the Incident Management Referral online

      • Contact the parent/legal guardian sometime during the day
