Meet the Teachers-Tue, Aug. 14th, 1:00 - 4:00 pm
We can't wait to see you all for our Meet the Teachers event on Tuesday! We have an amazing faculty at AIS and are excited to introduce your students to them. Join us on Tuesday, August 14th at our Meet the Teacher event. All grades can drop by and come and go anytime between 1-4 pm to meet the teaching teams. The PTO will also be on hand with Pizza Friday sign-ups, our uniform exchange, and volunteer sign-ups. Jhino will be on hand to take registrations for Afterschool Activities as well. See the details below.
This is an informal introduction and teachers will not be able to meet individually with families this afternoon. However, make sure to save the date for our Back to School Night on August 30th from 6:30 - 8:00 pm where more information will be shared including general school information, an overview of the year, classroom expectations, and much more.
First Day of School-Wed, Aug. 15th
Please review the daily schedule information below. We will see you bright and early on Wednesday for the first day of the 2018-2019 school year! Since the first day is a Wednesday, we will have early release. Students are welcome to stay in the complimentary afterschool care from 2:05pm to 3:45pm or they may be picked up early.
Morning Drop-off
Early drop-off is available at 7:15 am in the auditorium. Drive-thru drop-off starts at 7:45 am and ends at 8:15 am.
School Start Time
PS-MS: The official start time for PS & MS students is 8:45 am, and students are marked tardy if checked in after 8:45 am. We always encourage all PS & MS students to arrive before 8:30 am to give them time to settle into their classroom environment before starting activities. PS & MS parents may walk students directly to their classrooms between 8:15 am and 8:45 am. PS-MS students who arrive early will be picked up by their teacher from the auditorium and taken to class at 8:15 am to settle into the day.
GS-CM2: The official start time for GS (Kinder) through CM2 (5th) is 8:15 am, and students are marked tardy if checked in after 8:15 am. GS-CM2 students who arrive early will be picked up by their teacher from the auditorium and taken to class at 8:00 am. We have a 15-minute Student Welcome (grade period) from 8:00-8:15 am during which students can go directly to their classrooms.
6e & 5e: The official start time for 6e and 5e students is 8:00 am, and students are marked tardy if checked in after 8:00 am. Students are responsible for being in class by 8:00 am to ensure they are on time.
Afterschool Pick-up
PS-GS: Regular dismissal will be between 3:25-3:45 pm daily except Wednesdays. Early dismissal each Wednesday will be between 2:05-2:15 pm. Students may be picked up from the classrooms during dismissal times.
CP-CM2: Regular dismissal will be between 3:25-3:45 pm daily except Wednesdays. Early dismissal each Wednesday will be between 2:05-2:15 pm. Students may be picked up from the auditorium during dismissal times.
6e/5e: Regular dismissal will be at 3:30 pm every day. Students should either meet their parents/designated pickup person directly at this time or proceed to the auditorium independently if they are staying for after-school care or afterschool activities.
On Wednesdays, students may either stay in complimentary childcare from 2:05-3:45 pm, or they may be picked up between 2:05-2:15 pm. Regular childcare rates begin daily at 3:45 pm. If you haven't yet registered for flat rate afterschool care you may contact Jhino to sign-up.
Afterschool Activities-Registration opens Tue, Aug. 14th
We have added some fantastic classes in French, Spanish, and English to our Fall 2018 Afterschool Activities. Check out the updated schedule here. Sign-up will begin at our Meet the Teacher event on Tuesday!
Hot Lunch Program-Register by Wed, Aug. 15th
Here's the link for the hot lunch menu calendar for August & September. The deadline for submission is Monday, August 13th Be on the lookout for a Renweb email with more information from Ester.
Pizza Friday Program-Register by Mon, Aug. 20th
You may elect to register for the optional Pizza Friday program. Each Friday, parent volunteers serve cheese pizza to those registered participants. The first Pizza Friday will be August 24th and is served each week the school is in session until the end of the year. Remember to bring a lunch the first Friday, August 17th and make sure to round out the Friday meals with a side of fruit or vegetables.
You may sign up at Meet the Teacher or through the google form here no later than Monday, August 20th and make your payment to AIS PTO via check in the Pizza Friday folder at the reception desk. We prefer checks for tracking purposes but you may pay via credit card at Meet the Teacher or New Parent's Night (8/23 from 5:30-7:00 pm. For questions, please contact Nathan Morgan. Don't forget, the sign-up deadline for the year is August, 20th!
School Calendar Sync
We have input most of the dates for the 2018-2019 school year and events on our school website calendar under the school life section/school calendar page. Did you know you can sync all of these dates directly into your phone, ICAL, Google calendar, or Outlook calendar by clicking on the small calendar icon in the top right calendar? Some special event dates are subject to change and may be updated throughout the year, so check back regularly for any updates.
New Parents Night-Thur, Aug 23rd, 5:30 - 7:00 pm
We are excited to welcome so many new families to our community. We want to get to know you! Join us on Thursday, August 23rd for an evening of sharing as we introduce you to AIS. The PTO will be on hand as well as other members of the AIS community. More information for our new families will be emailed over the upcoming weeks.
Back to School Night-Thur, Aug 30th, 6:30 - 8:00 pm
All families should plan on attending our Back to School Night on August 30th. We will give a short presentation in the auditorium, welcome new families, introduce you to members of our faculty and team, and then parents may break off for classroom sessions. Teachers will provide an overview of the year ahead, discuss classroom needs and expectations, and how you can support your child(ren)'s learning at home. AIS will offer limited childcare with a registration up on first come basis in a future newsletter.
