Message from the Superintendent

Dear Parents & Community Members,

I am pleased to share that the number of COVID-19 cases has significantly decreased in our area! On Monday, March 1, Placer County was in the red tier with a 7-day case rate of 6 per 100,000. This is excellent news! As a comparison, just one month ago, our 7-day case rate was 18.9 cases per 100,000.

Our 7-day case rate must be between 4-7 cases per 100,000 to be in the red tier and must be in this range or lower for 14 days in order to officially move into the red tier.

We are excited to get our students back to in-person instruction five days per week and are actively working on this. The fact that the case rates are decreasing and the majority of our staff have received the COVID-19 vaccine are huge steps forward to making this possible soon.

We are currently working on addressing all items outlined in the CDPH’s new guidelines for K-12 schools, and our Leadership Team is busying planning new school schedules and new bus schedules for in-person instruction five days per week.

Next week we will share with you our target start date and school schedules. For planning and staffing purposes, we will have a form that we’ll need parents to complete for each student to indicate if your student will be in-person learning 5-days per week or distance learning.

Stay tuned for another update next week!

Sincerely,

Carmen Ghysels Superintendent Chief Learning Officer
