Activate Good - New Opportunities...including VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING
NEW Project! Operation Hand Up
Activate Good + Oak City Cares Call for Volunteers
Activate Good is partnering with Oak City Cares to assist those experiencing temporary or long-term homelessness. Without access to technology, some clients have been unable to complete their applications for stimulus or unemployment support that could make a huge difference to their ability to survive and sustain themselves during these challenging times! We're looking for volunteers to help us give these friends a "hand up" by helping them file for support one or more mornings at Oak City Cares in downtown Raleigh, May 4 through May 8.
Volunteers will help these neighbors in need complete their applications to receive their stimulus payment or unemployment support using a laptop provided to them. Learn more about what volunteers will do, requirements, and sign up for a shift time on our Operation Hand Up page.
With your help, dozens of neighbors experiencing homelessness and hardship can access their stimulus or unemployment support!
Special thank you to Michael and Ashlie Bucy for their support of this critical initiative.

Urgent Volunteer Needs (COVID-19 Response)
Activate Good continues to support local nonprofits and connect volunteers during this time of uncertainty. For those in good health who wish to offer their time and resources to their community, a list of ways you can continue providing critical support to area nonprofits can be found https://activategood.org/covid19.
Specifically for those who are confined to their homes, a growing list of remote volunteer opportunities can be seen at https://activategood.org/remote.
A few remote volunteer highlights:
Junior Achievement of Eastern NC needs professionals to record videos about their careers to help students connect work, interests, skills, education path, and community.
Upcycle tee-shirts into fabulous tug-of-war dog toys for Second Chance Pet Adoptions
Create worksheet packets for kids who may need extra practice with certain subjects in school.
Your Best Shot Leadership Academy - Volunteers Needed!
At Your Best Shot, we are currently looking for high school volunteers to assist us with our Homework Helpers Program. We provide homework assistance, remediation, study skills development and enrichment for students in grades k-8. We operate Monday through Friday from 3 to 8.
We are less than 15 minutes from Wakefield High School. We are located at the intersection of Harps Mill and Litchford (8320 Litchford Road) in a Food Lion shopping center. Students can volunteer for one day or more depending on their interest and availability. Ideally, we would love to find students who might have an interest in teaching because this will provide an unbelievable opportunity to work directly with students with the guidance of experienced educators but will embrace anyone with interest.
Our website is www.yourbestshotllc.com and students can check out the specifics of our program and our other program offerings. Please Email Phil Moses at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
