Cape's Mission & Vision

Mission: To provide a safe and supportive learning community where every student experiences success.

Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.

Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund

Dear Cape Elementary Families,

What a terrific start to the school year! Thank you to the families who joined us for our first Spirit Night at Chipotle and who are participating in our Fall Fundraiser. Funds raised will be used towards additional playground structures and activities for students to use during recess. Fundraising orders are due September 13.

On behalf of our teachers and staff, we look forward to partnering with you to help your child have a very successful school year. It is important that children set academic goals for each school year, and we encourage you to help promote these goals and a growth mindset. Our children need our help to stay focused on their education, to keep going when it gets difficult and to believe in themselves. To assist us in this goal please:

  • Make sure your child attends daily and arrives on time

  • Completes assignments and homework

  • Reads daily

  • Shares school experiences with you

  • Shares their academic goals with you

  • Be your child’s cheerleader and celebrate successes with them

It is our parents’ enthusiasm, support and involvement that inspires children to do their best, combined with our teachers’ ability to teach rigorous standards to students that will lead us to higher achievement. Together we can achieve great results!

Safety continues to be a top priority. In order for your child to receive medical care in our school clinic, parents/guardians must sign an opt-in form in FOCUS. It’s extremely important that the medical opt-in form, Student Emergency Form, and health information be completed in FOCUS.

Also, starting this year, interims and report cards will now be accessed online ONLY using the FOCUS Parent Portal. Parents will have access to report cards and other important information like grades, attendance, discipline referrals, and progress monitoring results. Please use the link for directions on creating a FOCUS Parent Portal: FOCUS Parent Portal Directions

Thank you for your continued support of Cape Elementary.

Sincerely,

Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund

PTO News!

Welcome back!! Time is flying by and we're already four weeks into the 2022-2023 school year. Cape Elementary is growing, having added three new classrooms. With the addition of more students current play spaces are not big enough to accomodate all of the classes at recess. Every other day a class has recess in the classroom. Cape PTO's goal for this year is to focus a majority of our fundraising dollars towards the expansion of the outdoor play spaces. We will continue to fund classroom enrichment needs, SOAR celebrations, field trip buses, student assemblies and more.

This year saw the return of our Boo Hoo Woo Hoo Breakfast. Whether you were happy that your Cape kid(s) was returning to school or sad that your little one was starting Kindergarten, we hope that you enjoyed getting to meet other Cape parents and members of the PTO. Thank you to Perk & Brew for donating the coffee, Stuff a Bagel for donating the bagels and Starbucks for the donation of pastries!

Our Otis Spunkmeyer/Nancy Daniels Fall Fundraiser began on 8/24 and ends on 9/13. This is PTO's only catalog fundraiser of the year and we appreciate your support. Sell ONE item to drench our Principals with a water blaster! Every additional $30 in sales earns another water blaster. Sell 5 items to attend the Futboleros Soccer Show. Sell 8 items for a special treat before the show and a chance to be a part of the show. Top seller in the school will win a pair of Airpod Pros! This is in addition to the Teamwork prizes & Oceanic Pals Collectables. Earn your first Oceanic Pal simply by registering online & sending out invitations to friends and family! Earn more Oceanic Pals by selling more items. Orders will be ready for pick up the week of October 17th. We'll know the exact pick up date closer to the delivery time. Don't want to buy anything but want to support the PTO? You can make a straight donation and your child will still be eligible to blast the Principals and attend the Futboleros Soccer Show (depending on donation amount). Email us for more information.

We had a great turnout for our first Spirit Night of the year at Chipotle! With the help of our Cape families we were able to raise $861!! This is our biggest Chipotle fundraiser to date. I told the manager that our families show up and boy did you ever! Thank you!

Our first PTO/SAC Meeting of the year will be on 09/14 at 6:00pm. More details will be sent out closer to the meeting. We would love to see you!

Another way to support Cape Elementary PTO is to choose us as your charity of choice on AmazonSmile. Amazon requires you to choose this periodically so even if you signed up last year please check to make sure we're still your charity of choice. Most of us are shopping on Amazon anyway so why not support the PTO too?
