Polser STEM Academy - November 18th - November 22nd, 2019

What's Happening this Week?

We had a wonderful Veterans Day Program on Monday, November 11th! Thank you to all of our Veterans who came to support our staff and our students and be honored at our program. Thank you to Hebron High School Color Guard for presenting the flags and Miss Wilson for the beautiful songs performed by our Polser Singers and 4th and 5th Graders. Our 4th and 5th grade readers did an excellent job sharing what a Veteran means to them. We celebrate all who serve in our US Militaries and the sacrifices you have made for your families!

We enjoyed our Polar Bear Dash Award Ceremony on Friday! Our Top 20 Earners were able to ride in a limo and have a special Chick-fil-a lunch too. Thank you all for collecting money to support our school. We were able to raise $10,000. I will provide dates soon for our Monster Yogurt Parties for our top earning classes and the date of our Pajama Day selected by our top earner in 4th grade!

We have a few things happening this week. This is College and Career Week and we will have guest speakers in PreK-2nd Grade on Tuesday, November 19th, and guest speakers in 3rd-5th Grade on Wednesday, November 20th. Students are able to wear College shirts on Tuesday and Wednesday to support College and Career Week. Thank you Miss Garrett, Counselor, for organizing such a wonderful event for our students!

Our Annual Thanksgiving lunch will be Thursday, November 20th during all lunches. The cost for adults is $3.55.

PTA will be sponsoring an All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast at Rockfish in The Colony on Saturday, December 7th from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Santa will be there for pictures! Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for those 12 & under. I have attached the flyer. A paper flyer will go home this week. Proceeds will benefit Polser Elementary.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!

Thanks for all you do,

Mrs. Phelps

Staff Spotlight

Alejandro Marines, 3rd Grade Teacher

I am excited to be at Polser Elementary! This year will be my fifth year of being in education. I started teaching at Southridge Elementary. I started out as a bilingual aide and later that same year I became the fourth grade dual language teacher. I live in Denton with my fiance Justin and our dog Buster. Buster basically runs the household. I am originally from Houston. My parents still live in the same house I grew up in. I have a younger sister who is also a third grade teacher and a younger brother who is in his senior year of high school. What I love most about teaching is seeing the growth in students. It's the best when they have that "aha" moment.
