Academy of the Arts at Bransom
April 9-13, 2018 (School Days 138-142)
A Note From Your Principal
Good morning, Families and Friends of the Academy of the Art at Bransom.
It is great to be back on campus this morning ready for all that the week has to offer. It is going to be a pretty exciting week.
STAAR - Tuesday and Wednesday is a targeted time for assessment especially for our 5th graders. Each of them will be taking the 1st round of STAAR. The Math and Reading Assessments will take place primarily in the morning hours each day. Due to the security of the assessment and focus of all administrators and students, our campus will be closed to all visitors. If you need to drop off a lunch, please do so in the office. Thanks!
A free breakfast will be prepared for all testers each morning beginning at 7:15AM. Testers can come straight to the cafeteria when they arrive at school.
Field Trips - We have two trips planned for the week for 4th graders and 5th graders. Make sure to touch base with your child's teacher to see if there are any last minute details for your child or you to be aware of. We hope you know that learning happens all throughout our day whether on campus or off and field trip destinations are selected carefully and with purpose.
We want everyone to know that the next few weeks of school may be tough but so rewarding for our students. Projects are finishing up and you will begin to see the fruits of our labor. Our artwork is showing up around the community so please checkout the Photography Club's work in local banks. Also, preparations are being made for a final musical/dramatic performance of the year. Please make plans to attend "Summer Camp" at CHS on April 19th. I have seen snippets of the rehearsals and I am so excited for the students AND the audience. Please check out the calendar below for the latest updates on events and adventures.
In closing, I have to give a huge shout out to our PTO Executive Board, This year they have worked tirelessly in front of and behind the scenes to support our efforts at the Academy of the Arts at Bransom. Whether it was a check writing campaign, popcorn popping for our students, luncheons for our staff, or purchasing outdoor musical instruments for our students, they got the job done and the job was done well! As the year begins to wrap up, the PTO Executive Board also wraps up their duties. They are in the nominating stage of preparing for a new board for next year. Please contact any member or our front office if you are interested in being a mover and shaker on next year's board. We are always looking for energetic individuals who can commit to our student body's best well-being. Again, thank you, Ladies, for all of your hard work! You're the greatest!
Always grateful,
Mrs. Burchfield

Congratulations, Kindergarten families. Again, your attendance was the best on our campus last week at 98.35%. Wow! Our overall attendance was at 96.58%! Thanks for all you do to get your child to school each and on time. It matters to us all.
Closed Campus to Visitors during STAAR
Our students have worked hard this year and in years prior to prepare to "share what they know" with the state. We are excited to have our students share their knowledge. All of us need to be accountable for our work. Therefore, we are asking that appointments be avoided on the following days to insure all students' hard work is counted in our accountability. We do not want our students' absences during S.T.A.A.R. to reflect negatively on our school. By the way, attendance in general is accounted for in our school's accountability. So, thanks for being here!
