Giving Thanks
One way that schools (and CMS) does this is through some of our team based activities that focus on Social Emotional Learning. You will hear more about this as we research and adopt a social emotional learning program at CMS. These programs help students focus on those skills they will need later in life that might not be tied directly to academics but will make them highly valued as a future employee. Some of these traits include resiliency, empathy, ability to work and lead groups, initiative and risk taking, along with many other skills.
Several of our student groups are working on community service projects to help families in need before the holidays. Be on the lookout for activities that can help the community and build positive skills in our students over the months to come.
Have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Thanksgiving!

Baby Pictures!
Dear Coakley 8th Grade Parents,
Work has begun on the 8th grade yearbook for the Coakley Middle School Class of 2018. As in years past, we would like to feature baby photos of each student and are hoping you can share them with us.
You can share them two ways:
1. Email as an attachment to mtanquary@norwood.k12.ma.us
2. Provide them on a thumb drive or as printed photos and send them to school to be handed in during homeroom, or leave in the PTO mailbox marked “8th grade yearbook.” They will be returned to you as soon as they are scanned or uploaded.
We would appreciate it if you could provide your child’s baby picture before Winter Recess.
We are also looking for group pictures of the kids through their years at the Coakley. If you have ever chaperoned a field trip or been to the school to take pictures on the first day or school or at an event, we’d love to include them in the yearbook. These photos may also be submitted as directed above:
Thank you so much for all your help. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Melissa Tanquary.
PS - Feel free to guess who is in the photo above!

Dear Ms. Hoyle,
I just want to thank you for all the amazing help that you provide to our student. It is because of special people like yourself that she is going to succeed. You are a huge advocate for her and your attention to detail during her meeting did not go unnoticed.
We can't thank you enough for all the little things you are doing. (Homework link, Weekly emails, ect.) I can't always be there for my student, but we are grateful that she has someone like you.
