It's Career Fair Season!
If you're seeking employment, internships, or even information on various graduate/professional school programs, now is the ideal time to seek these opportunities through career fairs. The month of October alone includes Graduate School Info Day, the Building Science Career Expo, Education Interview Day, the College of Agriculture Career Fair, the Supply Chain Management Career Fair, and the Auburn University Career Fair, among others! You can find more information about these events at auburn.edu/career/events/.
All students are encouraged to attend career fairs, no matter your year at Auburn. Even if you're not currently job searching, but will be in the future, now is a good time to start attending fairs and making connections. To prepare, you should make sure your resume is updated and looks professional. (Be sure to stop by the Career Center during drop-ins to have someone look over your resume!) Bring several copies of your resume, printed on resume paper, to each career fair. Also, have a 30-45 second elevator speech prepared when talking to employers, and come prepared with questions to ask them. If you would like more information about preparing for career fairs and navigating them, you can make an appointment with a Career Counselor by accessing your handshake account.
STEM Career Expo RECAP
Career Fair STEMming Opportunities
On September 19-20, 2017, the Auburn University Career Center hosted the Fall
STEM Career Expo in the Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.
The STEM Career Expo consisted of 157 employers that were offering internships and full–time
jobs to students aspiring to enter the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics career
fields. The Expo offered opportunities to explore options and network with top companies in the
industry including ExxonMobil, Delta Airlines, Southern Company and Milliken. Successful
networking during the first day of the event offered many students the opportunity to return for
next-day interviews.
The event produced a record attendance of 1317 students. This year’s Fall STEM Career Expo
had 13 more employers registered compared to that of Fall 2016. In addition, the Expo
experienced a 44 percent increase in student attendance from Fall 2016. One of the unique
attributes of this year’s Fall Expo was the addition of professional photo services which allowed
attendees the opportunity to take a FREE professional headshot to use on their Handshake,
LinkedIn profiles and online portfolios.
The Auburn University Career Center delivers comprehensive services and programs for
students to explore majors and careers, network with employers and professionals, prepare for
advanced education, and successfully transition from college to career.
