How are Footballs Made
The process of making one of America's favorite games
A little history about football
It all started in the 19th century when the game was invented and even in Greek times there was evidence that they did in fact play the game of football. Then, it has taken off as one of the best sports in the world. You can play football year round if you really wanted to.
Where it Began
It starts with inflated pig's bladder or a synthetic rubber bladder to start the process of making the football.
The Process
Some companies like Wilson, they make the footballs for the NFL, use cowhide to create the shape of the ball and divided in 4 panels to show definition of the football with a hydraulically-driven clicking machine. Then, they use a skiving machine to laminate the leather onto the football to make it a reasonable weight and thickness. After that the materials are sewed up together with a hot wax lock stitch to hold it together. Lastly they do a final inspection to assure they meet standards and send them to schools and clubs around the country.
The Finished Product
After the process, the football is created for kids and other individuals that love the game and adore playing the game as well.
The Actual Process of Making the Football
The PPP of business!
Footballs are can be from a natural resource or a synthetic resource to create the product which is the football. The cows and pigs (if used) are tended by the farmers and are sent to skinners to get the cow hide and pig bladders to create the football.
The process being used is mass production, which is making a large quantity of a product which are being made the same. Footballs are made the same way and instead of just doing it by hand, companies make it with machines to ramp up products to increase the speed.
