what we will do

First we will discuss the possibilities of different kind of wool. You will learn how to develop your very own designs for individual 3d forms without any seams through sketches and surface samples. Based on this you will calculate and make templates which allow beautiful symmetrical forms. As an experienced textieldesigner Maria will guide you with her knowledge and experiences in the designproces. She will give you precious tips how to improve your felt work for creating firm and high quality felt art.

about Maria Friese

Maria Friese was born in 1980 in Germany. From 2000-2004 she has studied "textile design" at the faculty for applied art in Schneeberg/Saxon where she also learned about the felt technique. Since 2005 Maria lives in the South-west of France near Toulouse. Her studio is situated in an idyllic landscape with panoramic look at the Pyrenees. In the surrounding nature she finds peace and inspiration which she needs for her work.

Maria is specialised on symmetrical vessels, sculptural wall art as well as geometrical and poetic works. Her design is modern and timeless. With her work she won the "Young designer Contest 2013", a price which is given away once a year from the French Craftsman's Union "Ateliers d'Art de France".

Maria says: " For me felt art is researching the perfect shape. It's harmony, it's poetry and most of all it's my passion. It's meditation and also an every day challenge. I take much pleasure in the on going learn process. Felting teaches me to accept changes and transformation and to keep an open mind for all what's new."
