WHY I TEACH
I have been a teacher in the special education business for more than 16 years, and if there's one thing I've heard over and over it's, " I don't know how you do it, you must be so patient." My immediate reaction: I cannot think of anything else I'd rather do. I am challenged everyday to find the best strategies for academics, life skills, social and emotional behaviors for each and every student. At the end of the day I go home with lots of love and a full heart for all of my students and my amazing team. I can confidently say that special education is the best gig out there.
Outside of work my husband and I have 4 grown children, and 3 grandchildren, with 1 more coming April 2021. As you can see there are lots of granddoggies too. I love spending time with my family and four legged friends.I honestly love to play! My husband and I have a full bagger touring motorcycle and we love to travel all over the United States, and also Canada. Weekends we love to pack up travel trailer, kayaks and visit various new campgrounds. I can say I never get bored of living life.
Let's Keep Everyone Healthy and Our School Open
We are so happy to be able to give parents the choice for in person instruction for their children. Working together we can ensure that schools stay open. We are asking every family to please do the following:
1. Screen your child for symptoms each morning before sending them to school.
2. Keep your child home if they are not feeling well - sick children should not be at school regardless of the cause of the illness.
3. Keep the lines of communication with the school open - we all want what is best for your child and working together we can accomplish that!
Because of the nature of our current reality, it is critical that our nurse’s office knows of any pre-existing medical conditions of your child, particularly if the symptoms might mirror those of COVID19. For example, if your child has asthma or seasonal allergies, he or she might frequently sneeze, have a runny nose or a cough. We can better support your child if we are already aware of a pre-existing condition. Please call us if this applies to you.
CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH
Home Activity
Brainstorm a privilege or special treat that you’d like to work towards as a family. Then, write out specific ways everyone can show Responsibility around the house daily, weekly, or monthly. Create a Responsibility Jar and decorate it together. Each time someone completes one of the responsibilities on the list, place a small item like a bean or a coin in the jar. When the jar is full, celebrate with your special treat!
