November Updates

Hello Parents!

I hope you are getting excited for Thanksgiving break! I wanted to send out an update. Refrigerator cards went home yesterday and today for Science, with the test date on the back which will be December 4th. We are learning about natural resources, sources of water, rocks, man-made vs natural resources, and how to conserve resources. Our last unit before Christmas break will be a short one on Solar Systems over the moon phases and planets, with the test being Wednesday December 17th.

In Math, we are still going over addition and subtraction word problems, counting by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s, even and odd numbers, telling time in 5 minute increments, as well as using words (quarter past, quarter before, half past), counting money up to 50 cents, and also place value so they need to know the tens and ones place. This review test will be Friday December 4th, with the test being Monday December 7th. After this we will begin a unit that will not have another test until January.

In Social Studies, we are going over resources and environment, which goes hand in hand with Science. We are about to be discussing patriotic symbols and special days. This test will be given the last week before Christmas break, probably on Wednesday the 17th.

Supplies the classroom needs: We are completely out of hand sanitizer and with the winter/flu/stomach bug season upon us, we would really appreciate donations! We are also out of glue sticks! We go through these pretty quickly with activities that we do in class. Last thing would be brown paper bags, we will be doing some activities with these and need some by Friday! Please donate if possible!

Thank you to everyone for turning in the $9.00 for the field trip t-shirt, please turn this in if you haven’t already.

Also a green sheet went home yesterday. Since we have early dismissal December 17 and 18, I need you to fill out this sheet and turn it in to me by Friday letting me know if your child will be eating in the cafeteria Friday the 18th or if they will not be eating. This will help us to get an accurate count of lunch before the holiday. Thursday the 17th, will be classroom parties, which we will sign up for later for you to bring food and this will cover the lunches.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I have been so proud at seeing your children grow over the past few months and getting to know each of them better!!

Thank you!!
