Coronavirus Update & Safety Protocols
It is in uncertain times like these that it's all the more important for the world to come together. We hope everyone is well and trying to find some much-needed peace and balance during this time. We were excited and looking forward to returning and seeing all our amazing students next week. Unfortunately, that will not be the case right now. The school looks to the Department of Education and Sarasota County Schools during the time of school closures due to unexpected circumstances. As you are aware that date is April 15th for Florida schools to resume. We have moved the resume date to March 31st, 2020.
Coronavirus Update – 3.20.20
As communities begin to feel the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), I want to share with you the steps we’re taking at TerraNichol Academy Of The Arts to help protect the health and safety of our families, students, and team, which is always our top priority.
We’re closely monitoring local and national reports on the evolving impact of COVID-19 and, based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization and applicable public health agencies, we’ve developed plans and established a task force that will allow us to respond timely and appropriately.
We are battling with reopening on the scheduled resume school date of Monday, March 23rd, 2020. Attentive date to resume school on March 31st, 2020. We will keep you informed and up to date on this date. This was a very difficult decision-making process. We have to consider everyone's health and safety.
There are many factors to consider before we can reopen the school.
Training for staff members on the Coronavirus Update & Safety protocols, preparing for an Influenza Pandemic and training once we return to school.
Small Staff
If a staff member becomes ill upholding our staff to student ratios.
Supplies-As of right now we have minimum supplies. The school’s auto ships are delayed until April 16-20. We have been unable to secure supplies at local stores.
We would need to close all sensory activities such as water play, or playdough projects.
Arrival and dismissal procedures would need to be adjusted to keep foot track and social distancing to a minimum.
Parents would need to drop off and pick up students in the rock room area and not enter the building. A teaching team member would need to check-in/out all students. Siblings would need to stay with parents outside the building.
All events will be canceled or postponed.
We would create learning environment labs to be held outdoors only during April and we will reevaluate at the end of the month.
School may only be able to provide Half-Day School Schedule.
11. Once the school reopens students and staff would be monitored for any sign or symptoms. We ask that all families with any signs of symptoms remain at home.
If things change or start to turn around in a positive way we would consider reopening earlier.
I have attached some informative information, activities, and videos. I will continue to post on our social media page some fun ways to keep the students busy and continue their Reggio Emilia education.
