Why I love the library!
When I was younger, I actually did not like reading. The only books I had ever read were the ones that were required for school and I did not find them terribly entertaining. Then, when I was in high school, I had a teacher who insisted we read for pleasure once a week. Every Friday was sustained silent reading or SSR. As a straight A student, I was very upset when my grade started to dwindle simply because I didn't like reading. So to the library I was sent, and the librarian there was determined to find me a book I would like. It took a few tries, but soon I began reading a book from R.L. Stine's Fear Street. After that, I read every single book in the series (more than 50 books) and that was all it took to light my fire for reading. After that, I was a common library patron and even worked as a library aide my senior year of high school. It was that library and that librarian that allowed to get where I am today. Books have the power to transport you all over the world and beyond and I feel it is my job to get each of them a passport for that journey. It is a job I hold above all others because it is the most important job in the world.
