Principal Message
Janssen Families,
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself as Principal of Janssen Elementary. Previously, I served as the Principal of the 4K Center for Literacy, and I am looking forward to all that is to come in this new role. Janssen Elementary is a strong learning community and I feel energized by the opportunity to learn alongside our staff and students this year.
The summer months have been busy here at Janssen as contractors have been working hard to complete a variety of projects that will truly make a difference in our building. The cabinetry and countertops have been updated in classrooms, the courtyard has been refinished and an expansion has been made to the kitchen. I welcome you to take a look at the courtyard and kitchen when you are in our building later this month.
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we know that we want our students to continue to develop as problem solvers. By continuing to set high expectations for learning every day, there will be no limit on what they can achieve.
As a parent myself, I recognize all that each of you do to help your child succeed. Parents and families are an integral part of helping students grow and there is significant value in your engagement in your child’s education. Together, we can build and foster a love of learning both at home, and at school, to help our students expand their thinking, develop as problem solvers, and make infinite connections to their world around them.
I have truly felt so welcomed by the Janssen community, and as a staff, we are looking forward to seeing so many of you at our scheduled Meet the Teacher opportunity. This will be held on Wednesday, August 30th from 3:00-5:00PM.
Wishing you and your family well as we wrap up the final month of summer and begin to anticipate all that is ahead for kids in the upcoming school year.
I welcome you to reach out to me with any questions, comments or concerns at any time.
Brooke Vander Hyden, Principal
