EICS Assurance Surveys - Final Week To Have Your Say!

In our ongoing pursuit to refine how Elk Island Catholic Schools provides faith-integrated education and support to all of our students, we’ve launched our Assurance Survey for the 2022-2023 school year.

This is an opportunity for you to let us know your thoughts on how well we’re addressing our mission to develop educational opportunities in the context of Gospel values, celebrate and nurture students, and guide them on a lifelong spiritual journey.

Your feedback will be anonymous and welcomed to assist with guiding the decision-making process as EICS plans for the future.

To help us gain a comprehensive understanding of how we’re doing, similar Assurance surveys are also being provided to all students and EICS staff.

Please take the time to complete this survey when it is convenient for you. If you are the parent or guardian of multiple children who are attending EICS schools, we ask that you take the time to reflect on each child’s individual experience and fill out a survey for each child. We recognize that their experiences may be different and wish to obtain a greater understanding of these differences in the survey.

To begin the survey, please click here: EICS Parent Assurance Survey 2022-2023

To ensure your feedback is received, all surveys must be completed by Friday, February 17.

Ink Movement Anthology Submissions

Ink Movement is a youth-led organization that focuses on providing youth with an artistic platform. Ink Movement strives to create a fun, inclusive, and supportive space for young creatives to explore their capabilities, network, and have their voices heard. The organization's main project is their annual anthology, where artists from 14-25 years of age can publish their visual art, writing, original music, photography, and film. They also have numerous other initiatives throughout the year, including poetry slams, competitive and collaborative events, and workshops! The Edmonton chapter is currently working on its 2023 youth anthology. This year's theme is “distortion and abstraction,” and submissions will be open until February 18th. The Great Disconnect

On February 23, Family and Community Support Services is hosting a free screening at the Shell Theatre of “The Great Disconnect” at 7pm. We would love to have staff, students and families join us! Please read below for more information about this important documentary. Booths will be set up in the lobby before and after the show highlighting different ways to connect with each other and in our community. It would be fantastic if this was something you could share in your newsletters, etc. as it covers an important topic that affects so many.

The Great Disconnect uncovers why, in a world seemingly more connected than ever before, people are feeling more and more socially isolated – and the true cost this has on our lives and communities. Watch wellness expert Tamer Soliman as he journeys through North America to meet with local citizens, community activists, and leading authorities on social, economic, and urban planning to discover the true factors that have profound and lasting impacts, not only on our health, but the health of the communities in which we live. This timely documentary invites us to reflect on the relationships we have with those around us and raises the question: is it possible to overcome our modern culture of disconnectedness and rediscover how truly essential we are to one other?

Since its official launch, the film has screened across Canada through multiple municipalities, and has been shown in ten countries across Europe. It has also been featured in over twelve independent film festivals, and in October 2020, the documentary won the award for Best Feature Film at the prominent Better Cities Film Festival.
