Hello Orenco Families! We are nearing the end of the first quarter. I hear feedback from time to time--usually good--so please continue to reach out if you have concerns or obstacles that you are facing. We are here to help be problem-solvers with you. We can help connect with resources and answers when needed. Kudos to everyone for pulling together to make this work!

Mod Pizza Fundraiser (by Costco)

Wednesday, Oct. 28th, 10:30am-10pm

4554 NE Cornell Rd, Hillsboro, OR, USA

Fundraisers have been a part of our school communities and have supported a variety of activities, supplies, field trips, etc over the past years for our students. This fundraiser will be supporting materials for Orenco students. We know that many of our families have been impacted in different ways regarding COVID-19 and want to make sure that you know there is no expectation to participate and/or donate in any of our fundraising events unless you feel comfortable and capable of doing so. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to Allison Combs, Principal and/or Pamela Lamm, Booster President at info@orencoboosterclub.org

Self-Serve Materials Pick-up

If you have an item to drop-off, there will a bin available each day from 12pm to 6 pm. Items can be dropped here like books, broken chromebooks, etc. It is helpful if you include a note with a name on it. We ask that if you have papers with identifying information, then call and we can arrange a pick-up with you.

Your teacher may have arranged a pick-up, too. Carts will roll out between 12 pm-6 pm daily if there are items to pick up. Walk to the South entrance--by the play structure and cafeteria entrance doors, not Birch Ave.

Free meals for all students

HSD is providing free meals to all students, Mondays through Fridays, when school is in session, through June 2021. Meals are being delivered via bus routes (check http://www.hsd.k12.or.us/mybus for stop locations and times). They are also available in a drive-through/walk-up between 11:45 am to 12:45 pm at six schools: Century High, Brown Middle, Evergreen Middle, Poynter Middle, South Meadows Middle, and Lincoln St Elementary. Any student or parent can go to any bus stop or hub location to get food.

  • If you are struggling to find a close meal stop, please don’t hesitate to reach out and call Transportation at 503-844-1123. Help is available to locate a stop closest to their home.

  • For families living in the “walk zone”, there are meal stops available to them. They do not need to walk out of their neighborhood or to the schools to pick up meals.

News Around the Community

Atfalati Ridge Elementary School--The name of the new elementary school in North Plains recognizes the Atfalati Native Americans, who lived in the area. (pronounced Ah-tfahl-ah-tee). The Atfalati are a subgroup of the Kalapuya, called the "Tualatin" or "Wapato Lake Indians" by settlers. On Sept. 22, board members at the Hillsboro School District tentatively selected Atfalati Ridge as the name of the new school and are expected to vote to officially adopt the name at their next regular meeting on Oct. 27, following a 30-day review process.
