Ms. Baird's 8th Grade Math Class!

week of September 17 - September 21

Solving muti-step equations

We've been reviewing solving 2-step equations and now we are moving on to 8th grade material - solving equations with variables on both sides and writing our own equations!

What are we doing this week?

Monday - Writing 2-step equations

Tuesday - Writing 2-step equations practice

Wednesday - Solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign

Thursday -Solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign activity

Friday - distributive property and combining like terms

SOLVING EQUATIONS

Make sure your kiddo is practicing solving equations at home! This can be difficult for some, so don't forget I am available for tutoring during focus and before and after school!

What are we learning in Unit 2?

Throughout Unit 2 students will learn how to:

  • write a one-variable equation with variables on both sides to represent a problem.
  • write a one-variable inequality with variables on both sides to represent a problem.
  • create a real world problem given a one-variable equation with variables on both sides.
  • create a real world problem given a one-variable inequality with variables on both sides problems.
  • model, write, and solve equations with variables on both sides to model mathematical and real-world problems.
