We are happy to invite you to a GoCPS high school application orientation session at Boone on Thursday, September 15 at 8:30AM. At this meeting we will present an overview of the GoCPS process and answer questions about the student transition to high school.

If you are not able to attend the in-person GoCPS Orientation at Boone on Thursday, September 15th at 8:30AM, we will be offering a virtual GoCPS Orientation on Monday, September 26th at 5:00PM, link to follow. Please contact Counselor Julie Rowe at jrrowe@cps.edu with any questions.

Dear West Ridge Community,
There have been escalating incidents occurring after school hours on the Boone playground including vandalism, violence, and break-ins. Through reporting these incidents, photo sharing, and discussion groups we have learned that the youth making these poor decisions are students from various schools within West Ridge. Community members have reported similar incidences in other parts of our neighborhood as well.

We are inviting the community and area stakeholders to join a problem-solving meeting on September 12 at 6pm on the Boone Playground (in the case of rain the meeting will be held in the Boone Multi-purpose room). If attending this meeting, please remember that youth who make mistakes are not inherently bad and we are not looking to fix kids, but rather improve the opportunities that surround them. We hope to see you there.

I hope all of you and your students are off to a great start of the new school year. I wanted to reach out to you all about the YMCA Community Schools Initiative after school program this fall. We currently have one Youth Enrichment Instructor (and one open position, please let me know if you know of anyone interested), which means that we will be starting the year with 15 participant slots for students in grades 2nd-6th. The YMCA CSI after school program will run Monday through Thursday, from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm. The program is scheduled to start on Monday September 12th.

The YMCA CSI after school program provides students with a range of different activities and opportunities. Our programs include; Reflect & Connect, Homework Help, Fitness Fun, Visual Arts, and more!

As the program has limited capacity, students are expected to attend daily. Repeated unexcused absences will result in removal from the program. In addition to student attendance, parents and families are expected to attend monthly family programming opportunities. These programs will vary from activities, performances, and much more! Your engagement in your students' academic and extracurricular activities is so important to your students. There will be a mandatory parent orientation on September 19th from 4pm-5pm. If you are unable to make this meeting, please contact Josh Fidler at jfidler@ymcachicago.org to set up a meeting time.

Espero que todos ustedes y sus estudiantes hayan tenido un gran comienzo del nuevo año escolar. Quería comunicarme con ustedes sobre el programa extracurricular de la Iniciativa de Escuelas Comunitarias de YMCA este otoño. We encourage you to set up your account as soon as possible. You can stay up-to-date with all Boone events by enabling push notifications on the app on your smartphone.

CPS will continue to offer free, weekly in-school COVID-19 testing to students and staff who are interested. Importantly, anyone who wants to enroll in testing this year will need to fill out an updated consent form — regardless of whether or not you participated in weekly testing last year. That updated consent form can be accessed here. Consent forms from last school year or this summer will not be valid for the 2022–23 school year. However, once a student or staff member has consented this year, that consent will remain in place until they leave CPS.

Parent Portal gives parents the ability to view students' grades in real time. If you are setting up your Parent Portal account for the first time, please visit the First Time Parent Portal Set-Up link. This is a one-time step and not necessary after every school year. Once you receive your email from Aspen to help set up your username and password, you can access Parent Portal at Aspen Parent Portal.

If you already have a Parent Portal account, but are running into technical issues (forgot password, locked out, etc), please email Boone's tech coordinator Patrick Chi (ptchi@cps.edu) so he can reset your account. Once your account is reset, you should receive an email from Aspen with further instructions. Additional information provided by the district can be found at this link.
