A Note from CES Principal, Mrs. Nichols

Hello Champion Families!

Can you believe March is here??? Spring and warmer temperatures will be here before we know it! After the freezing weather we had in February, I am ready for spring!

We are planning for March to be a month full of learning and fun activities. Our biggest fundraiser of the year, our FunRun, is scheduled during this month. We will also be celebrating reading, learning about patience, and helping a family very dear to us.

Jessica Moore is one of our 3rd grade math teachers. Her son, Carson, was critically injured in a very serious accident while school was not in session for inclement weather. He is currently at LeBonheur Children's Hospital. Students will have the opportunity to participate in dress up days March 2-5 for $1 per day. All proceeds will be donated to a fund set up to assist Mrs. Moore and her family during Carson's hospitalization and recovery. Of course, participation is optional.

Be on the lookout for information regarding 3rd grader state testing in the next couple of weeks. Ms. Scanlon, CES School Test Coordinator, is finalizing schedules now. When you receive the schedule, please make every effort to have your child at school on his/her testing days.

As we enter into the spring season, my mind turns to growth. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for partnering with the CES team to grow your child this year!

Kind regards,

Mrs. Selina Nichols

This Month's Big Idea

Our big idea for March is patience. Patience is waiting until later for what you want now. You can show patience by:

  • Completing a large jigsaw puzzle with your family or friends.
  • Being the last one served at dinner.
  • Choosing to let someone get in line in front of you.
