Mrs. Jillian Hymas- CTE/Concurrent Enrollment Coordinator
CTE (Career and Technical Education)
It is the end of October and we are rockin' and rollin' through this school year! I love that you are part of the CTE Program, a place where you can develop your interests and talents. I know your future is full of bright success, and this is one big step in that direction. The foundation you're working on right now is an imperative part of your success in completing your CTE Pathway. All of you who are enrolled in the CTE Program are either currently taking or are enrolled to take the explorations course you need to take this year. You can find your specific pathway course sequencing on our website. Check it out! UTVA CTE Website Click on the pathway you signed up to take and it will pull up your specific pathway course sequencing.
If you haven’t enrolled in the CTE Program yet, but you want to, you can enroll here and I’ll be in touch with you:

Concurrent Enrollment course registration is happening now! If you’re interested in taking college courses from your laptop through Snow College and earning high school credit and college credit, simultaneously, that is now an option for you! If you’re interested in attending college classes at SLCC that is also an option. Please email jhymas@utahvirtual.org as soon as possible for more information.
We are having our next CTE meeting on November 1st at noon. We will be sending out more information and messaging about it soon, so please look for that, but I want you to mark it on your calendars now! J I am so proud of you all; you are working hard, passing all of your classes and attending regularly and I can’t overstate how important these things are! Thanks again for your hard work and I’m looking forward to seeing you on November 1st.

UTVA Student Spotlight
J. Wang- Concert Pianist
J. Wang recently shared his incredible talent as a concert pianist. The assembly was sponsored by the Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation, and they even took steps to bring in a new Steinway piano for the assembly. J. played two pieces, one by Chopin and one by Liszt, which had the elementary students spellbound.
J. is 15 years old and is a 10th grade UTVA student. His mother said he would not be able to compete at such a level if he attended a traditional high school. The flexibility of the virtual program at UTVA allows him to practice the piano 6-8 hours a day, 7 days a week, while providing challenging academic courses as he remains current in his path to high school graduation.
If you would like to see J. in concert he will be performing:
Chamber Music Society of Salt Lake City, November 1st.
It will be held in Libby Gardner Hall, School of Music, UofU, in Nov. 1 evening. It is free to the public.
Wednesday Nov. 9 9:30 -10:00 and 10:15-11:00 Blackridge Elementary 14131 Rosecrest Road, Herriman
Friday Dec. 2 9:30-10:00 and 10:15-11:00 Hayden Peak Elementary 5120 W. Hayden Peak Drive (7995 So.) West Jordan
