Matadors on the Move
National History Day
Students at Estacado will be embarking on the school's third National History Day project, with a chance to compete in Austin and in Washington, D.C! This years theme is "New Frontiers", and students will choose their own topics to research. Graduate students and Professors from Texas Tech University will be visiting weekly to help students practice their historical thinking skills, and in February community members from all over Lubbock will convene to pick the most outstanding projects.
Early College High School Takes a Field Trip
Students in Mrs. Teets dual credit Geology class were able to visit with the Texas Tech University ENVISION & STEM programs. Students were able to visit the rooftop lab where TTU tests for air quality control as well as take a geology walk through downtown Lubbock. We are looking forward to taking another group back there soon and expanding our partnership with TTU.
The EHS bowling club debuts
The Matador Bowling Club competed in their initial tournament against schools from across the Lubbock area this past weekend. The competition was held at Whitewood Lanes where parents and friends were able to cheer on the competitors. Students are being coached and mentored by a member of the West Texas Bowling Association. Any student interested in joining should visit with Mr. Espinoza.

Difference Maker- Coach Felicia Teeter
Each month the staff at Estacado has the opportunity to nominate each other for recognition. The chosen Difference Maker- is the EHS Game Changer. This award recognizes a member of the Matador family that goes above and beyond in their role at Estacado High School. This month's Game Changer is Coach Felicia Teeter
Coach Teeter is a part of the Estacado Social Studies Department, and currently serves as our dual credit instructor for Government & Economics. After 30 yrs of service in the armed forces, she is passionate about teaching students about the importance of becoming informed and active citizens. Recently, she organized the opportunity for her students to get directly involved with the upcoming elections and work the voting polls. Coach Teeter also holds the distinction of being LISD's first female football coach. She joined the Estacado coaching staff this year and has done a tremendous job working with our athletes. We are so glad that she's part of our Matador family.
Here are a few things that her peers had to say:
- "Have you read the news recently? I think that others are finally realizing what an amazing asset we have in Felicia Teeter."
- "Teeter has an unconventional background to be a teacher, but I think that education is in her heart. Teeter coordinated and organized over 35 students to be election poll workers, preparing them to be involved in their communities and politically aware. As the first female varsity football coach in Lubbock, she also makes our community aware of the great things that are happening at EHS, and is a wonderful voice for our school."
- "Coach Teeter works to promote student learning both on and off the field. She is diligent in building character in her athletes and students and she is consistently looking to find ways to meet their needs."
Congratulations, Coach Teeter
