LTMS Highlights
Social Studies Classrooms
Mrs. McMillian
LTMS 6th graders have been learning about early civilizations in Social Studies. After studying archaeology and how we have learned about past cultures, students took part in an archaeological dig! Using the same tools and methods archaeologists use, students uncovered some "historical" items and had to report on how the items connected to early civilization!
Mrs. Seaba
Our 7th graders visited Lawrence this week for a culminating activity that covered multiple content areas. They explored the Natural History Museum on the KU campus (Science/SS) and then toured Quantrill's Raid Trail and the associating historical sites (ELA/SS connection). Mrs. Seaba was able to connect multiple experiences into a Kansas historical quest in downtown Lawrence that students won't forget!
Mr. Dinkel
8th graders have been studying American history, learning about the events leading up to and through the Revolutionary War. To drive home the concepts of this early American period, Mr. Dinkel used a multitude of hands-on, dramatized activities to help students understand what it was like to go to war in the 1700s. Whether it was using a tug of war rope or paper wads, students learned while having fun!
Safety Advice From FACS Class
In Family and Consumer Sciences, before students were allowed to cook, they had to review safety procedures. To make sure students knew the material, Mrs. Glenn had students create FlipGrid videos as reminders for other students. Check out an example below:
Congratulations
Connie Euler
Connie was recognized for October's staff appreciation at the BOE meeting. Mrs. Euler, one of our dynamic LTMS secretaries, makes us all look good. Her positive attitude and smile, coupled with her efficient, detailed work, positively impacts students, parents, and staff. The town of De Soto and USD 232 is a great place because of people like Connie.
Susan Slater
Susan was recognized for October's staff appreciation at the BOE meeting. Mrs. Slater serves many roles at LTMS. She is viewed by the staff not only as our PE teacher, associate principal, and athletic director, but also as a helper, supporter, and friend. She embodies Panther Pride and we are thankful for all she does!
