MCSC - Family Connect - 5/16/21
Important Testing Reminders & Updates for Week of 5/16/21
Secondary Complex Principal's Message
The grip of the COVID pandemic seems to be loosening; however, we will continue our current safety procedures and habits. We will remain using masks and sanitizing protocols. We've been quite fortunate and lucky compared to neighboring secondary schools.
As the weather warms and we see June on the horizon, it is important to continue learning and growing. This is our Senior's final week of school. We are tracking down those that must make up the state testing. Our teachers work hard to push for deep thinking and see what our learners can do, not just what they can remember. Including a new slate of family and parent meetings, we have some great end-of-the-year events to know about and one that could use some volunteers from our middle school families.
I encourage you to read through this newsletter and update those family calendars.
Grateful to Be a Bather!
Mr. Kirk Duncan
Principal, Secondary Complex

Summer Enrichment Classes & Credit Recovery
This summer Mount Clemens Community Schools is running two different summer learning sessions in order to not only help our students regain credits but offer supplemental learning for targeting the gap in achievement from the past year. Teachers from within the district will be instructing different learning programs from math basics to film studies. Credit recovery classes will be available to high school students looking to stay on track with their grade level and supplemental skills classes will be available to students moving to grades 6th thru 12th.
There will be two different sessions, the first from June 28th - July 23rd and the second from July 26th - August 20th. Your student or students will have the opportunity to do one or both of the sessions. The sessions are four hours in the morning, Monday thru Thursday. Students who attend will be given breakfast and a take-home lunch on a daily basis.
While many of our students would benefit from taking part of their summer to recover and strengthen their academic skills, we are targeting every secondary student to sign up. This program and courses are free of charge and paid through Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds.
High school Bathers in need of credit recovery opportunities need to take advantage of this summer program. Credit Recovery classes during the school day will be severely limited next year and replaced with an afterschool program.
Transportation for our students living within district boundaries will be provided.

Middle School Field Day!!!
On Tuesday, June 8th, the middle school will be throwing a field day block party for our middle school students and parents. Field day will start at 11:00 a.m. with a “best of the middle school” tug-of-war competition. At 11:45 students and parents will be able to participate and indulge in all games, activities, and concessions available. At 1:45, the middle school will come back together in order to draw the raffle to pie their teacher in the face.
We invite all parents of the middle school students to join us and have a fun-filled day. Students will receive field day t-shirts as well as a goodie bag of summer supplies. Some of the activities parents and students will be able to participate in is a bungee run competition, dunking their teachers in the dunk tank, tie-dyeing a mask, all-star basketball shoot-out, choosing their own airbrush tattoo, and many more.
