Parent-Teacher Conferences

Big picture

Triton Middle and High School are very excited about the upcoming Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences. We will be utilizing a scheduled conference format. Fall Conferences are taking place on Tuesday, November 15, and Monday, November 21. Students should attend conferences with their parents.

At conferences, you will meet with your child's advisor/homeroom teacher. Parents and students will then have a 20-minute time frame to have conversations with other teachers as needed. Progress report cards (THS) and report cards (TMS) will be handed out at conferences.

We will be using a web-based program called Sign Up Genius to schedule conferences. You should have received an email with a link to sign up for conferences. Feel free to contact the Middle School or High School Office with questions or concerns.

If you have not yet signed up for a conference time, please access the buttons below. Remember to sign up for a conference with your child's Homeroom Teacher (TMS), and Advisory Teacher (THS).

We are excited to meet with all of you and continue to work together to create the best possible educational experience for your child

SEL - Profile of a Graduate

Our focus this month is on Critical Thinking. After our monthly lessons, we hope that students will be able to understand that critical thinking requires us to ask questions, analyze assumptions, interpret evidence, and evaluate data, to make judgments about what we read, hear, say, or write. Being able to gather relevant information and think through solutions and conclusions is not an easy task; it takes practice and patience. However, building these critical thinking skills will

foster your child’s ability to make decisions and solve problems, as well as stimulate their curiosity and creativity.

As a parent, there are some things you can do to support critical thinking at home. Encourage them to ask questions and be a good listener. Challenge them to be open to new ideas, and teach them how to research and analyze that information. Debate everything! By having a healthy debate with your child, you are essentially witnessing critical thinking in action. Our emotional, psychological, and social well-being is shaped by every experience we have. Thinking critically through these experiences will help us make informed decisions that promote our mental health.

THS Service Day

Triton High School is proud to make service a prominent part of the educational program for all students. This year we dealt with some inclement weather and were unable to complete our whole school service day. In Triton fashion, a few classes and teachers came together to complete as many service projects as possible on Wednesday, November 9. A huge thank you goes out to the service day committee and students for doing a fine job of representing our school!

Cobra Kindness

COBRA KINDNE$$ is an account that was started by the Triton Taher/Kitchen Staff

to help families that are unable to pay balances for school lunches only (ala carte

items will NOT be covered by this account-those items are the family’s

responsibility-have a conversation with your child if this is an issue). As much as

we would like this account to cover the full cost of meals for every family in

financial need, the funds just are not there. Right now, while funds are available,

we will match your payment (up to $100) that you have added to your student’s

account. Example: If you send in $50.00, we will match that and apply another

$50.00 to your account. To do this, families would need to contact Misty L. by

phone or email, to see if they qualify. All conversations are confidential.

COBRA KINDNE$$ is taking donations!! Currently, the account is very low in

funds. If you or a business would like to donate, you can do so by check or money

order. Please make checks payable to TRITON and in the memo line be sure to put

COBRA KINDNE$$ Account. Thank you and we appreciate all donations for our

Triton students!

Please contact me with any questions!

Substitute Teachers Needed

We are always in need of substitute teachers. You can be a substitute teacher without having an educational degree. Our teachers leave great sub plans and we will help you every step of the way.

If you or someone you know is interested, I encourage you to explore getting a short call sub license with the Minnesota Department of Education.

Digital Tools Used at Triton

Triton Public Schools uses a variety of digital tools to support student learning. Technology vendors and software are utilized to support work as we help all students develop the skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing world.

We have an inventory of our curriculum, testing, and assessment tools posted at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1unjuIsIGGM2021Tdas_yEXLTsqA4oD1gkgZ_SXMUujA/edit?usp=sharing and include an outline of the student data elements within each tool. This list is maintained and communicated annually to all families at the start of the school year.

Please reach out to Technology Coordinator Rebecca Goossens (rgoossens@triton.k12.mn.us) or Technology Integrationist Coltt Ullom (cullom@triton.k12.mn.us) for additional questions regarding specific digital tools used in classrooms.

Sincerely,
