Vose Owl Notes
Family & Community Newsletter - December 2021
Vose Families,
As we head towards Winter Break, we wanted to celebrate all the hard work of our students, staff and families with a Spirit Week this week! See the details above for each day this week.
We hope you are able to enjoy the Winter Break to rest and relax together as a family. We invite you to cozy up to read, play games and/or tell stories as you focus on family time as much as possible.
There is a FREE opportunity to join Snow Camp during Winter Break- see more info below. This special daily camp is FREE for all Vose students, thanks to a local grant with the Beaverton Civic Theatre.
In the new year, we invite you to participate in our One Book/One School book coming in January - every family will receive a copy of the book "Frida Kahlo and the Secret of the Peacock Ring" by Angela Cervantes (a book will be sent home with their oldest or only child, in their home language as designated in Synergy).
We will also have a slightly different specials schedule starting in January, so be on the lookout for information from your child's teacher so you know which days of the week they will have PE, Music and Technology.

Character Traits of the Month
DECEMBER's Character Trait is EMPATHY. We show empathy when we try to understand how someone else is feeling and understand their situation. We also celebrate national Human Rights Month in December.
JANUARY's Character Trait is TEAMWORK. We work collaboratively as a group to achieve the goals we share.
At Vose, our teachers and staff integrate lessons and activities to emphasize, highlight and teach about each character trait and heritage month. We encourage families to also tell stories and share examples of these character traits and heritage months at home.
Winter Break BINGO & Book Challenge!
Don’t let your guard down!
Our crossing guards work hard every day to help our children get to and from school safely. Whether on school property or in the community, if you see a crossing guard, please do what they are asking you to do. It takes all of us to keep the roads safe for everyone. Please be especially mindful in school zones, at intersections and crosswalks (marked and unmarked), near bike lanes and in neighborhoods. Thank you!
One Book One School- Let's Read Together
We will work together as a whole Vose community to read and participate in challenges throughout the book to celebrate literacy. Please look for the paperback book in your oldest/only child's backpack and the book will have instructions along with reading assignments and the first challenge activity to complete for prizes!
