Childhood
Barbara Jordan was born on February 21, 1936. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She was the youngest of three girls. Her mother raised the girls to complete their chores, stay out of trouble, and appreciate education. Much of Barbara's family life centered the First Baptist Church.

1) Since, their dad was a preacher he had many rules. The girls were very restricted during their childhood.
2) Many of Barbara's teachers favored lightskin children. The classrooms were very unfair.
3) Her parents could barely afford college. She went to college but it was a struggle to pay.
Macro- Conflicts
1) Segregation was occurring between whites and blacks.
2) No African-American could attend Texas University. She wanted to go there but she couldn't because of that.
3) She lost the National Presidental Campaign. She thought that it was rigged.
Conclusion
She became a state senator and a U.S. Congress woman. President Jimmy Carter considered her for attorney general but she remained as a congress women. She died of pneumonia in 1996.
