Thank you to our parents for remembering to sign in and get a visitor's badge if you are on site during drop off in the morning. A HUGE thank you to our first and second grade parents who pick up in the afternoon. Your cooperation has helped us have our students all picked up safely within 15 minutes. Our bus drivers appreciate that they have been able to access and leave the parking lot safely as well. On Mondays, all of our students will be dismissed at 1:35. This will mean extra traffic and the need for extra caution and patience.Our classrooms are getting into their routines now that we have made it through the first two weeks of school. Our students are participating in beginning of the year assessments for language arts and math. These assessments will help teachers learn more about their students and we will also use these assessments to measure growth throughout the school year.
I continue to be impressed with how polite and friendly our students are! This is a reflection of the work that you all do at home. Thank you!

First grade parents, please use the front lane.

Second grade parents, please use the second lane.
This year our school is going to participate in the County Cross Country Running program with some COVID accommodations. Your child must have their Try-out Liability Release to attend practice. They must have their Sports Physical or Health statement signed by the doctor to run in the races. The five races are on the following Thursdays (Sept 30th , Oct. 7th , Oct. 14th , Oct. 21st , & Oct. 28th ). Races will be held at Susanville Ranch Park, maybe the Golf Course, and Shaffer School. K-2 Races start at 3:45 p.m. and students should be there 15 to 20 minuets before the start time. Each race the students run about 1.1 miles.
We will have a parent meeting on Wednesday, Sept.15th at 2:50 p.m. by the buddy bench under the tree on the back playground. Practices will begin the the next day, Thursday, Sept. 16th, from 2:50-3:20pm at the Buddy Bench. Practices will be Tues., Wed., every week. We will practice Thursdays until the races begin on the 30th. Parents will need to pick-up their children from school at 3:20 p.m. We ask that you walk out to the back playground to pick up your children. Students attending the McKinley After-school program will be taken over to the program after practice.
On race days parents will be responsible for transporting their children to and from the races.

Free Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast is served from 7:45-8:10. Please allow enough time for your child to eat prior to school starting. The tardy bell rings at 8:15.
September is Attendance Awareness Month!
We will be holding monthly attendance award assemblies to recognize students with perfect attendance. To receive the perfect attendance award, a student must be on time and present each day during the month.
