It's almost time!

The floors shine! The lockers are ready for backpacks! The pencils are sharpened! And more than anything, the teachers at Lakeview are excited to see our students after a beautiful Summer. Open house is on Wednesday, August 29th, from 5-7 p.m. This is an opportunity to drop off supplies and meet teachers. The first day of school is Tuesday, September 4th. Starting September 4th, school hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.

Who is my teacher?

This year, instead of posting class lists on the front door, Lakeview is sending postcards to each family (see the picture for an example). The postcard will tell you which teacher your student will have this year. We hope this is a more confidential way of notifying families about class placement. Postcards went in the mail on Wednesday, August 22nd, so you should receive it by the end of the week.

If you have not completed the registration process, you will not receive a postcard yet. Rest assured, we have a spot for your student, but we need every family to complete the registration process. You can do this online or by coming to the office. Click here to complete the registration process online and click here if you have Powerschool questions. If you have already registered, you do not need to do so again.

Just one new face this year ...

It is pretty amazing, but we only have one new staff member at Lakeview this year, and that is our new principal. A few staff members are in different roles, Ms. Jahns is now teaching at Rawson, but the rest of our Lakeview staff is all here! Here is a little info about our new principal:

Chris Sepersky is new to Lakeview, but he's been a "Rocket" for quite awhile. This is his 20th year in education. Originally from West Bend, Mr. Sepersky started his career teaching high school choir in Iowa. Then, for 14 years, he taught music here in South Milwaukee at Blakewood, E.W. Luther, and the Middle School. Last year, he was an administrator at Whitnall Middle School, and now he is thrilled to be back "home" in South Milwaukee, this time as the principal of a school that he long admired.

Chris and his wife, Ann, have three daughters who love music, gymnastics, and dance. He received degrees from Viterbo University and Alverno College. Mr. Sepersky's love for South Milwaukee doesn't end at the school door - he has been a leader at Divine Mercy Parish for the last 14 years. Stop in and say "hi" to our only new staff member!

Attendance

We need every student in school on time every day, but we understand if a student is truly ill. Please remember to call the office (766-5252) if your student is ill. Anytime you take your child to the doctor, please ask for a medical excuse and bring the note to the office. Doctor's offices are very used to this request.

New District Website

This Summer, the School District of South Milwaukee launched a new website. The district's website address is the same as it was, but you can get directly to Lakeview's website now by going to lakeview.sdsm.k12.wi.us - bookmark us! Our website is a work in progress, and we will be adding content and links as needed. Please let us know what you need on the website.

Please see this document for our annual notices. At various times of the year, the school district provides required notices. These are also available to view in the Lakeview office.
